Piero Hincapie (5)

Yeah, true. Missed that part.
It’s ridiculous that guy got that amount of time and space to play that ball, being so close to the box. We had plenty of time to close him down, but we were all over the place during that whole move. The midfield looked useless.

Our defensive behaviour can be quite atrocious at times.
I think Arteta criticised it after the game too.

Yeah, Bukayo just backed off and Declan ducked away from the shot. Horrible to see.

Hincapie should have played Arokodare offside, he was way behind the rest of the defense.

I like this guy. Aggressive, versatile. Puts weight into his passes, does things with purpose. Great squad player to have.

How necessary of a signing was this by the way in hindsight. We’d be fucked now defensively, if we hadn’t bought him in.

He’s not ready to be our defensive leader obviously, but he has the Gabriel-like qualities to be that guy one day.

Once he has been fully Mikel’d, I think this guy is going to be a top performer for us. Have to remember he joined on 1 September so had no time to adapt / immerse himself into our system and tactical expectations. It’s a massive adaptation for new players, basically all of our signings make the same remarks.

He has a IDGAF mentality which I absolutely love. Attitude is excellent, super committed and fearless.

Atm he needs to be alongside Saliba or Gabriel to give him that security / on field instruction but in time he’ll step up. He absolutely loves a battle, loves to defend. He fits our style so well as he’s good on the ball too.

As @Truth_hurts said above, we’d be fucked without him in the squad now.

Solid defensive performance. Won his duels and read the game well.

Seems like he never really wins headers

Got to give him credit today for his assuredness. No boneheaded moments or shit decision making.

He’s doing pretty well, but we really miss Gabriel.

Done better today. Clearly still finding his way in the league, but overall, I’m impressed.

I certainly find Hincapieble of stepping in during the absence of Gabriel.

He offered good width when he was playing in the LB position. Allowed Trossard to invert more.

This was hella funny though.

As I’ve said before, prefer him as a LB. It’s great as we can let Cala rest up and get right. No real need to rush him back in.

He’s been a terrific signing. Zero adaption time, which is exactly what we needed when Gabriel got injured.

Definitely a left back and boy how we’ve needed him over the past couple of months.

PIERRRRRRRRRO HINCAPIE

THE ARSENAL GET EXCITED WHEN THEY SEE YOU PLAY :fire:

He’s very solid option as a LB.
As a CB too, but you just can see he just doesn’t offer that kind of presence and security as mosr our other CBs. Tbf the standard is high, but I like him more as a LB atm.

Has the athleticism cover the pitch, solid defensively, isn’t trying to do stupid stuff, no nonsense.

To be fair, when you go back Calafiori didn’t look this good at LB, defensively, in his early days. Calafiori definitely shouldn’t be rushed back into the team.

Agreed, no one really matches the Gabi x Saliba aura but I’ve seen enough that feels me with a level of confidence that he’s good enough for this team when called upon. His aerial ability is very good, it really helps mop up those balls chucked at us.

On occasion he was doing the very Arsenal thing of being a striker even though by name of position, he wasn’t. When he adjusts to the team’s demands, I can see that left foot being lethal with his crosses.
