Yep said it in the RIP thread but he made his clients very rich and ensured clubs paid up.

Players have realized the power of being a free agent. It is also good for your career to be a free transfer rather than relying on clubs to have a need & desire to pay for you.

Look at Matip, I had watched him play for Schalke & he was alright. He was never a special talent to have a big club like Liverpool pay top dollars for him. But since he was a free agent, he became a sensible option.

While players like Falcao, Zaha had to suffer the consequence of being an expensive.
