I don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t want an average (at best) 30 year old player to come in and “do a job”. I want better players. Or at the very least, young players with potential. And we absolutely can attract bigger names than that.
Fellaini and Sokratis are 30. Lichtsteiner is 34 (though, this signing i can at least get on board with). Is that really the way the club should be heading? Given age and quality, that’s bad recruitment! Our stars aren’t getting any younger either.
what i am saying is that maybe right now they are creating stop gaps players in certain positions that can work for a couple of years whilst we get the new sponsorships in and hopefully the cl too and they upgrade, we physically cannot upgrade every area to a high standard with the dross wenger left us with but a lot of teams even manu have ‘jobbers’ with a set of decent players why do we have to have fucking wc players in every position. What i am saying is that maybe they are going the route of keeping costs down and getting resell value and adding 1 or 2 top players per transfer window or in the summer window.
This signing would be a facepalm at the end of a highly productive summer where we took care of business… if this is really true with our business to date , it is a right rochambeau before the World Cup…
I’m going to judge in May regardless of who we sign. Results will speak for themselves.
On the face of it I can’t say I like any of the three players we’re currently being strongly linked with. If their being signed with a clear intention I can’t complain
