Word. I feel like Mikel’s vision of ‘Arsenal Zinchenko’ is like some secret weapon that unpicks defences (+adding the other nerd stuff to our midfield).
If he’s targeted and rightly so in his second season now that teams have worked out what he does in this team, he becomes a pressure point for our defence.
Tomi by default is solid defensively and really good with both of his feet.
Not sure why I needed to do a tangent there because I agree with what you’ve said lol.
This is a good point too, think he still has a lot of value when we are going to be just pinning teams back for most of a game. Positive to see Arteta take him out as well, seems to be a bit more evidence he is willing to try different things with our first choice side.
This is exactly it. Play him against teams that will use the low block against us, who will not press us. He’s too sloppy in possession when pressed and we know he can’t defend for shit. Just brings more nervousness to the defense in such situations.
I’d rather start Tomi in big games and bring Zinny on if we are chasing the game and have to take risks to get back.
In the end, neither Tomi nor Zinny are the answer. Timber will be the main man one he is back.
I mean we all know he isn’t here to defend beyond the basics, he’s here to +1 in attack and CAM against teams that are tough to break down imo. that he is good at for his position in general.
