A wing back.
You could always see a lot of qualities in his game while he was here. Heās an immense athlete, great pace, acceleration, stamina on a guy who has good size and strengthā¦ A very good dribbler too, he can drive with the ball really good, turn etc.
The best way to use him is as a wing back where you can use his athleticism in the best way as he can cover the whole length of the pitch.
Not skilled enough for a winger imo, not enough end product, link up, not creative enough, a shit finisher too (can hit if from distance at times).
Not surprised in heās doing well atm. He was maybe even better at Marseille, one of their best players for a while, but they didnāt know how to use him at Nottinghtam.

If he wasnāt such a dummy defensively, I am sure managers who like to play with wingbacks would love to have him in their squad.
You donāt have to be a great defender to be a decent wing backā¦
Chelsea won the title with Moses as a wing back, the guy was a winger for all of his career before that. Canāt remember him being a great defender, unless Iām wrong.
Tavares is an out and out natural prototype wingback, although he could still improve and is pretty raw in both directions. Obviously he wonāt mantain this level of production on a constitent basis.

Good for him, I believe we already have the fee for the obligation set though so it doesnāt mean very much for us.
Brilliant run from Tavares but does make laugh he gets credited for the assist there when the goalscorer had so much to do after, lol

Yeah, there was no pass from Tavares in the end but he did do a lot od work there, Iām not even against giving him the credit for the assist there.
Seen much worse āassistsā when someone makes a basic, harmless sideway pass and then the player goes on an insane run or scores a worldie from distanceā¦ Still counts but thatās an absolute nothing assist, unlike what Tavares did above.
Also did well to get out the way in the end. Nothing worth discrediting him over.
Shame we canāt get a higher fee off his form but Marseille also loved him at first then didnāt want to pay up. Better we get something.
