What does that mean about Hato?

That ÂŁ2.5m fee is going to hit like crack

Well, it’d be nice to get some of these guys out early.
Often enough they’re even doing a full preseason with us when it’s clear they won’t stay.
They’re usually not moving till mid to late August.

Edit:
Just had a look at our squad currently.

Even with the people that came back from loan, it looks like its the least bloated we’ve had in a long, long time. Certainly an opportunity for youngsters to be more involved in preseason.

Still a lot of work though

Tavares
Tierney
Lokonga
Nelson
Nketiah

I think the “deadwood” is probably the first 3. Sucks to say that for Tierney but it is what it is at this stage.
I can’t put that tag on Nelson and Nketiah as they did contribute last season.

We used to go into these summers with about 10 players you’d consider “deadwood”. We had like 30+ senior players on the books.

Nelson and Nketiah are unquestionably deadwood particularly as Arteta lost faith in utilising them.

Both need to be moved on.

Arteta used to trust Eddie, but in the second half of last season, he barely used him.
Both Nelson & Eddie were fit & available so there is no excuse for their playing minutes. We have to shift individuals who the manager doesn’t feel comfortable playing when the pressure is on.

I’d rather keep Tavares and lokonga than nketiah.

Nketiah needs to go, he’s garbage but somehow has value so his sale is more useful.

Lokonga should also go but there’s an option to keep him as a midfield number if we don’t get the right offer.

Tavares is the chaos factor we need as third choice LW.

I don’t think Arteta feels that way about Nelson and Nketiah though, hence why he kept then last season.
I don’t think we’re particularly desperate to sell either. Especially with Nketiah, it’s clear Mikel likes him a lot.

Tierney won’t go because of his injury and if he does it’s another loan somewhere

Best thing for him is to go back to Celtic imo.

We’ll have to make sure they’re okay with the structure of the deal.

How is Eddie garbage? He played about 11-12 games worth of football in the league last season and scored 5 goals, providing 2 assists.

Guy is clearly a solid player and will do well at whatever PL club he ends up at. Him not being good enough to start at Arsenal does not make him garbage.

3 of which came in one game against the worst pl club ever seen. 1 of those was an absolute banger tbf.

He’s terrible by our standard now and our attack goes to shit when he starts. Lucky if we get some decent money for him, yes he will do fine at a club like Fulham which is his level at best.

I mean it’s all relative right?

He’s a scrub for us but in the wider context of football he’s an unqualified success. An academy player who not only broke into the first team but played multiple seasons and scored goals in the first team.

Ooh, I like that we’re learning to insert sell on clauses into these recent deals.
