Noni Madueke (20)

It doesn’t seem like we do have to debate it though. Chelsea just got it wrong.

Fair, I still think it could be changed/simplified to make it easier to understand (possibly less abusable too)

I’m sorry I’m not going to hate on the player because it’s not his fault the club did a dumb thing.

This could have been a very good window.

If we had spent the money spent on him on eze.

What are they thinking? Is Madueke really a difference maker that will allow Saka to not be triple teamed?

Can we give him a chance before slating him?

I didn’t want Sesko but if we signed him I would have backed him 100 percent.

Madueke is a great young player, clearly highly rated by Arsenal and is coming in as backup/rotation for Saka. What’s the problem? Maybe give him an actual chance before judging him?

Plus, the window isn’t over yet! We don’t know yet whether we will or won’t sign any other players, including Eze. Perhaps wait until the end of the window until you draw conclusions on whether the window has been good on not.

I’ve seen this viewpoint and it’s not a guarantee, we have a coach that initially plotted Havertz in midfield, CB’s as inverting fullbacks. Forcing Madueke as the primary LW isn’t really out of the question here.

It’s kinda weird that Arsenal fans always seem to tell other Arsenal fans how they’re supposed to feel about the running of the club.

Not to you personally, but why is the response when any criticism is levelled against the club always ‘wait until X first…’?

Haven’t fans been waiting long enough already?

Historically speaking, if only 30-40% of new signups amount to anything of use, with the rest being a waste.

From the folk we’ve signed so far (even if you were to include Eze), literally only 3 of them will work out.

It’s a valid question to raise a huge eyebrow about Madueke… More so the funds spent on him than the player, methinks…

Just my 2pc!

I badly want us to sign a LW upgrade but in general Madueke at LW would be a sign of tactical flexibility, showing that Arteta isn’t completely wedded to inverted wingers, not some kind of crazy experiment. Martinelli hugs the touchline and then dribbles to the byline most of the time anyway so if that’s the job then a left footer might actually be more likely to put in a decent cross or cutback from that position. Pep has often played one inverted and one natural winger, which Arteta saw up close for years.

You’re right that it isn’t, but it seems clear from the window so far that we are seeking two quality players in each position, and Madueke fits at RW, given we still have Trossard and Martinelli. I still think we will look to strengthen on the LW, so let’s see what happens. His versatility is a bonus IMO.

I’m not being dismissive of any views, but the reaction to us signing Madueke was such an overreaction, totally unwarranted, and very unfair on the player. I also think too much fuss is being made about the transfer fee. I don’t think the fee is that high for a player of his profile. You can question that we could have used the money elsewhere, however virtually all Arsenal fans were calling for cover for Saka last season, and now Arsenal have gone and done that, people are still moaning.

I think our business this summer so far has been very good and disagree with you that only 3 will turn out to be good.

All Arsenal fans have waited a long time, but ultimately it takes time to build a squad that is fully capable of maintaining a title challenge. If you look back at what Arteta inherited, we are light years away from that now.

This is not exclusive to Madueke but a long held belief. I find versatility very overrated as a attribute. A John O’Shea in the team is handy but outside of that…meh.

what about players like Ben White & Timber?
Tomiyasu used to fill in across the back 4 at a high level.

Versatility is helpful when you’re having a season like we did last year. But we should have enough squad depth that allows Arteta to make changes and rotate effectively during the season. We need two quality players in each position.

He’s a right back now.

Fair example but are you factoring in Arteta’s system here?

Fair example also but he was never around.

These are fair examples but it can be hit and miss. Partey played RB. It wasn’t something to write home about. Havertz in midfield isn’t something we wanna see again.

Do note I said overrated not useless. It’s obviously useful. But in most circumstances you’re slotting the most effective/natural players.

Surprised you didn’t use Merino which is probably the best case for it. Off the cuff decision and he got some goals.

Fair, I didn’t make that distinction.
Top players definitely get that one position perfected and nothing else matters.

I back the player to succeed. But that’s mutually exclusive with having different preferences on where/who the money should be spent on. (Of course that’s dependent on any other signings come deadline day).

If you go through the transfer window of literally any club from any summer, you very rarely get a hit rate above 33% from those who were signed.

I hope for us it’ll be Gyok, Noni and Zubi though.

totally agree that tactical view, i love your football knowledge especially we all know when winger cut inside against low block opponent there is crowded opponent on middle space (there is no space to score goal from cut inside)

so the solution for LW is should be cut outside not cut inside which is just like martinelli always did go to final line and did cut back or crossing by using his weak foot

so madueke can become our temu rapinha because he is strong left foot BUT should not bought madueke because there are many batter option than him like kudus better than him in everything especially in dribbling and output even if put rayan cherki at LW still better than madueke,

but its what its so arteta must improve madueke end product because madueke must give instant impact immediately no more excuse he still young bla bla bla

exactly, we will back any player that arsenal signed but people against this transfer that because arsenal should spent money to get better player who available in market, why buy just decent winger with overpriced when there are many playre available in market

I’m blatantly not skating him.

I’m just asking if he is a difference maker.

Do we think he is?

hes not world class but there is a severe lack of world class wingers available. He’s a good age and isnt a bad player.

I would like to see what he can do. Fair enough if you disagree
