Nicolas Pépé

Not judging in any shape or form but he was invisible. Im sure everyone got excited when he came on and then just went flat.
We actually were on top when the subs came on and then went off the boil. Martenelli had less time but was the best of the three.

Can’t agree that he was invisible, showed some nice skill and ability to retain the ball.

Also made some good runs, something to build on.

Nothing bite size to form any real judgement on really either way. But fair enough if thats how you seen it.

Looks shit, selling Iwobi was a mistake if this is all pepe has to offer

The part about the runs was more interesting for me.
He’ll probably ask for the ball more in the future, once he fully settles… but today seemed very comfortable letting other to create and was moving very much like a striker/goalscoring winger, and he was doing it very good.

200 doesn’t really seem like a lot

Can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic , but you can’t judge him on his first 20 minutes playing in a game where we were just comfortable holding onto the 1-0 :santi:

Really? You have formed a view after a short substitute experience…

Iwobi has been shit for years…this is a new Arsenal now, get used to it!

I was about to say @Cristo you can’t do a @Bavin , but you already got some big bites so fair play :xhaka2:

Being serious, decent debut, got his eye in.

Could tell the defenders were a bit more nervous when he ran at them.

@Cristo is a funny guy. Or atleast he tries !

I think Cristo was being sarcastic but he’s tapped onto a very astute point that @SRCJJ made.

This guy has to do well. It’s a big responsibility for such young shoulders. I hadn’t heard of him before we went in for him (and I imagine a lot of Arsenal fans hadn’t either- although they might dispute this with the benefit of hindsight). 72mil is often a fee reserved for “known” players, going from one big-ish club to another.

I’m not entirely sure if he will do well.

What makes you say that…everyone else even other managers feel he will be a superstar!

I think the ‘Pepe will most certainly be a success’ fans need to take a step back.

He’s not going to be guaranteed to do well here. Is his head in the right place? Is he going to be managed the right way?

It’s a very awkward position for someone to do well. Like all Gooners, I hope he does, but it’s not a given

With his talents thought its more likely he is successful than he isnt, you just seem to be overly negative today

I think we should give him ago in front of Mhiki

Seriously? Lol your basing this off a 10 minute cameo off the bench?

He’s gonna be one of our best players this season

No I’m not. Read the post

This I agree with.

You are not basing it on anything that is realistic he was one of the top goalscorers/assisters last season barring messi and you sudden think he will be a failure :xhaka:

I’m not saying he’ll be a failure. I’m saying there’s a possibility he will be.

The hype we’ve had about a 24 year old relatively unknown has been akin to United fans getting overly excited about a transfer.

You get more than you bargained for when you expect nothing
