Nicolas Pépé

What? Low IQ?

What are you expecting from a player Arteta has destroyed?

1 good action. 20 bad actions. That’s A’Pepe

Back to third/fourth division player today.

So brutal man.

To be able to do the basics like being able to clear the ball under no pressure.

The only thing that could be levelled at Arteta is that he barely wants to use Pepe when he appears fit (even after scoring in previous games) and so that can have some confidence impact.

But. What we saw yesterday was one of the typical shades of Pepe. I’m a fan of his talent - lethal in the box, amazing finisher and can confuse defenders. But outside the box he looks like he also confuses himself half the time.

He’s not refined or technically reliable in the passing phases of the game or tracking back - this is Arteta’s nightmare. I’m sure Arteta’s working with him in training, but there must be signs of these issues in training, otherwise he would use him more in games for his goal threat.

A bloke behind me yesterday said:

"I’m 56 and I can do what Pepe does! proceeds to do that downwards shoulder shrugging motion that Pepe always does when he comes up against a full-back "

(It was funny at the time)

It’s all reactionary nonsense, people were saying the same concerns about Martinelli’s talent level based on few sub cameos before Arteta lucked into regularly starting him then we saw what he could do with an extended run.

The same applies the Pepe but it’s worse because we’ve already seen what he can do when given a proper run, he’s march sharp, with high confidence. The jump to suggesting he has a low football IQ is a horrible take, easily one of the worse I’ve seen on this forum.

Everybody already knows when he leaves he will thrive, just like Auba

This isn’t true, you already have a sample that show this isn’t accurate

Good for him. He’s clearly not up to playing here.

We need him gone in the summer and a competent replacement brought in

Pepe is a top quality player but I don’t think it’s going to work here. I hope that he lands at a team better suited to his skill set, there’s a high quality player in there he just needs the confidence and backing of another coach and team.

Was very poor yesterday but I just think people are a bit harsh on him. 5 minute cameos here and there for a player clearly low of confidence isn’t going to help him.

He’s never been an impactful bench player. Most of his productivity comes in games he starts.

I said he’s a low IQ footballer out of possession which he clearly is. It’s also hilarious to accuse Arteta of ruining him when it’s clear as day that one of Arteta’s main talents is bringing talent to the forefront. I’ve also talked up his ability from day one as an offensive player so I’m not sure why that went over your head.

You just seem blinded by your agenda on this one mate. You rarely hear this kind of deluded desperation in defense of a player unless it’s Lacazette.

That shove yesterday was as dangerous as you’ll see given what it could have cost us. He’s just not a player for Arteta’s strict system and never will be.

No it really isn’t. Plenty of examples of players he’s brought in/endorsed struggling, most prominent being Auba

An agenda is calling a player low IQ based sub appearances with zero match sharpness and low confidence. Especially a player that needs to build form through playing regularly. He hasn’t even been given a chance since the start of the season.

The low IQ take is very insulting to Pepe, particularly for a guy who has already shown to be an effective and dangerous forward at this level. His form towards the end of last season wasn’t a fluke.

Your smugness with Arteta is really getting unbearable now.

It’s ok mate I’m sure you’ll be proven right about Super Frank some day too lmao. Until then please keep up complaining about Arteta at every turn, it’s super enjoyable to read and not boring at all.

Where I have done this? You’ve got your head so far up Arteta arse you making stuff up

I deliberately stayed away from the “Aretasexual” dirt pounder rubbish because I think it’s pathetic. I have zero agendas on here.

Ok mate, glad we didn’t replace him with Potter though haha.

There’s a very reasonable argument that Arteta has handled Pepe poorly. As with a lot of things, that argument can coexist with Arteta doing other stuff well and having the side in very good shape.

The bottom line for me is that we need a player in Pepe’s role who the manager trusts and who will play better for this particular side and manager. It should be a priority to sell and replace him in the summer.

I guess Sundays are a good time to ask you to serve some receipts. :tierney:

It always pays to do research

Now, when you were going through my post history why did you deliberately ignore the positive comment about Arteta to suit your agenda?

This is weak sauce, half the comment on there are joke semi serious posts

How is this even evidence of me complaining about Arteta at “every turn” either? Most of those post are from the time he was genuinely shit lol

Between 20 year old Saka & 26 year old Pepe, Pepe is all promise & Saka is all application.

No wonder Arteta starts Saka as much as he can.
