ESR fanboys vs Pepe fanboys, love it.
Both bloody idiots. How about being Arsenal fanboys you pricks.
Christ our fans are boring, would probably have played just as well with EsR in the mix, that’s kind of the whole point of having depth for games like this.
Can’t enjoy anything without moaning about something.
Is this a real thing? Man Twitter is really the asshole of the internet for sports fans.
Cringey hot takes all day long.
Yeah, it started after the Chelsea match.
Someone had to be blamed I guess.
Twitter is more Facebook than Facebook.
Nah, the random rants by someone you know on Facebook are still hilarious.
Him and Ozilthings are the weirdest guys I have come across. Twitter is full of kids . At most both aren’t even secondary school lol
Looked like Pepe started to find his stride again today.
Thought Auba up front with Pepe, Saka and Oddguard looked like a strong attacking unit. Will be interested to see how they go in the prem and that Laca, ESR and Martinelli provide potentially good backup to these 4.
On paper, today’s front 4 has a mix of everything. We won’t play many teams as poor as WBA or have a defence which uses a high line.
Pepe was still far too deep my liking. Unlucky to not get a hatrick though. Pepe is a difference maker for us if he finds form.
Yep, involved bin 4 of the 6 goals.
I found him frustrating and a mix bag performance. Like many have said we won’t get many easy games like last night. For still not worth 72mil
For some reason, this answer really bugs me. Maybe it’s irrational. But who answers “myself” to this question?! Think a series about Pepe would be pretty fucking boring to be honest.
26 year old run of the mill footballer who has achieved nothing, would make for a great story
I’d probably have to hear his story to judge but the way he has framed that it would need to be a swashbuckling adventure with a taught plot premise. If it’s just “I was scouted at 11 and moved to France” then yeh, get out of your own ego mate.
Regardless it’s great to see that this documentary is already making people want to stand out from each other and damaging our cohesion as a team and unit, whichever dickhead greenlit this needs kicked from the club. There’s a time for shit like this and when you’re at the worst you’ve ever been isn’t fucking it.
We need to a togetherness not people vying for the cameras and striving for the most air time. This club is fucking boring, we focus on everything apart from the football.
The most frustrating thing is that you just know Xhaka is going to feature heavily with all his faux alpha male tough guy bullshit.
Since I just called the lad a stat padder in another thread, I wanted to go through his stats and break it down here to see if I’m full of shit or it stacks up.
Mans scored 25 and assisted 16 in 92 games for us, ignoring starts/subs for now mostly cos I can’t be bothered. Total 41 contributions in 92 games…on the face of it that’s not bad.

Assists:

Looking at the breakdown there are a couple of important goals against big teams (Man Utd) and 2 key assists on the way to our FA Cup win (City and Chelsea) but for me it’s not enough, regardless of the 72m pound fee. There’s a definite lack of assists in the PL in particular and I think the lack of space compared to the EL really affects him.
I think it’s clear that when he has a good day up against a weaker defence, he will definitely get goals and assists, he seems to like bagging a couple of each on those days, so there’s definitely a use for him if we forget the price tag. However, I don’t see enough in his stats to warrant a starting place given he looks more of a flat track bully than Lukaku ever was in the past.
I do also accept we have been pretty poor overall against the big teams recently, but even an atrocious Aubameyang scored against Man Utd last season and the forums ‘least favourite striker’ Lacazette scored against Liverpool, Chelsea, Leicester and Spurs. So I don’t think Pepe gets a pass on that.
Overall he just doesn’t cut it for me whether he cost 72m or 20m, watching him live leaves a lot to be desired and his stats do the same. He’s far too often ineffective against a defence outside the bottom 6 and looks miles away from that quality performance we saw against Liverpool early on.
Note: I’ve just counted penalties as if they were any other goal because he’s only taken 4 for us and scored them all.
This is hugely important though. He only started 16 league games last season yet people want unparalleled consistency and output from him.
He played around 1600 minutes which is the equivalent of playing about 17 or 18 full games. The guy doesn’t get a proper run in the team without interruption yet people want ridiculous output from him.
10 goals is an extremely respectable return from a player in a 38 game season let alone someone who only started 16 games.
I will admit it makes quite a difference in his case because he is often a sub, but that’s why I couldn’t be bothered because it will take me more than twice as long to go through it all.
It’s a fair criticism of my post, I won’t deny that.
Btw not sure on your specific stance on Laca but the interrupted run excuse doesn’t seem to fly on here for him so I don’t see why it would for Pepe?
Either they both get the acknowledgement that the managers keep chopping and changing them or neither get it.
The sad thing about Pepe is he seems to lack the ability to decide he is going to be the difference maker in our team. He’s the record signing, but how many times do you see him demanding the ball and bringing the game to our opposition? Not enough.
I like/liked him but have come to terms that he’s never going to be one of the leagues most consistent forwards. Raphina for example is a level up from him.
