Hilariously ironic.
I mean, you’re totally right, Arteta’s football is perfectly described as risk averse but it’s just sublimely ridiculous that it’s actually the riskiest football as we continue conceding the same goals on the counter every game

Every game it’s a debate about him. He’s simply an inconsistent player and you’ll wait forever if you think that’s going to change.
He’s in that Ryan Babbel category of player. Moments enough that you can make a YouTube clip out of and fool yourself we have a top talent.

Exactly, he’s a moments player who doesn’t have the moments often enough. I wouldn’t say he had a terrible game but he’s still an issue long term.
I look at him and Raphinha and it’s night and day, Raphina is eveything good about Leeds and even if he doesn’t score or assist he can get a MOTM performance because his impact is keenly felt thorughout the game as he is always involved and present.
Pepe may be a good player under certain conditions but I wonder how many good coaches would genuinely want to persist with him, what’s clear is he isn’t someone who can perform in spite of and to a degree that’s a trait of top players; they can consistently perform and elevate even when they’re surronded by lesser players.

I can’t stand Arteta but coaching only goes so far. A guy like Pepe who does not move off the ball is not helpful to the team. For me, Pepe is way too one footed for the premier League, he’s been found out and most of the time is really easy to defend against. Pull him wide and cut off the inside lane/block route to goal. If he tries to run you, just stand him up and take the ball. I now the Pepe Stans not want to here this. If Pepe is not scoring the team is down to ten men. Bar The EUROPA League games , Pepe has been utterly useless. His good performances towards the end of last season was when there was no pressure on to perform.
As I originally stated, you can’t change the system for every single player. Someone like Pepe is expendable because we have a better player in his position.

The Podolski Giroud and Walcott front three that most do not like in the 2012/13 could quite possibly get into our front three at the minute. The season before we signing Ozil. The season before we played with a front 3 of Giroud, Podolski and Walcott- all finishers . Walcott but not creators. Walcott behaved like a proper winger Gervinho was more impactful than Pepe, . Walcott provided good balance for RVP We’re already desperately lacking goalscorers and you think getting rid of one more is not an issue? Would love to live in your rainbow coloured world. Arteta is just making things extremely difficult for himself. It’s been obvious since Emery was here but Laca and AubA can’t play together in. 4-3-2-1z Imagine playing the clubs

Season and asking him to chase full back then play a him CF. Emery was not perfect but even he knew if you and going to play Auba and Laca together the formation needs to be a 4-2-2-2 diamond or 3-2-2-1-2 . arteta doesn’t know how to use two strikers together like emery did with auba and laca, arteta shows incompetence when it comes to tactics that’s why he can’t find a way to get auba into games and has him defend left wing back every game. Auba won the Golden Boot before Arteta came to the club. But since Lego Hair Boy came along almost every attacker has regressed massively. I think I will take break from Watching the until club January. Will do me a world of good and most fans should do the same. This Club. Is not good for the fans mental health. The season has just Started I already can not wait For

The guy can produce magic and get goals / assists out of nothing, but ultimately we got dudded in regards to the fee we paid, simply way too flawed to be worth anymore than 30-35 million quid.
Most mysterious thing to me is that he had like 11 assists in his last season in France and since coming to England he has been completely incapable of creating chances for others. He very regularly misses opportunities to make a decisive pass or weights a pass poorly when he does manage to see one. Every once in a while he’ll bend a cross to the far post for Auba but in terms of combination play on the ground with other players his game is nearly non-existent.
The Arteta tax is real but he didn’t show much under Emery either.

He got 8 assists for us in the 19/20 season. If we were an even semi-coherent at any point in his Arsenal career he’d very likely be matching, or exceeding, 11 assists.

No he doesn’t, didn’t say that he does. All I’m saying is Pepe would likely have marginally better statistical output if this was not the worst Arsenal side I have ever seen. I don’t think that’s a very bold claim at all. I don’t think even Pepe haters would be able to take much issue with such a mild claim lol.

Sympathy is there for Pepe being mis/under used under Arteta and having to play in this ridiculous system, but he isn’t doing enough. He isn’t creating, running at defenders or taking shots at goal.
I rate Pepe, but he’s been crap this season.

We’ve desperately needed him to show something. In the absence of Laca and Auba, he could have elevated himself.
All he’s done is shake his leg and turn back. He’s had one good run against Chelsea. Awful.
P.s. No banter, him and Partey are my favourite players here. I just expect more from Pepe.
