That first half was very encouraging, that is the kind of play and pressure we should be exerting and more against teams like Newcastle, their ground should never be one that is a nightmare for us.
Would have been really shitty to have lost the game and a point wouldn’t have been good enough, to see the team get the win is great and hopefully it can kick on here especially in terms of how we are able to create and pile on the opposition.
Eze was really needed as a signing because his technical level is excellent, do not have to put so much on likes of Odegaard with him in the team could easily have had a goal today if not for inspired saves from Pope.
Overall, the performance lays a marker this early into the season because we aren’t winning here last season, imperative that we push on now and go on a run.

Saliba did a Ben White on Pope for the winning goal, great assist.
I haven’t celebrated like that since the first title charge season. I will watch that goal a 100 times. Absolutely buzzing!!

Losing and not making up ground on Liverpool when we missed so many opportunities to do that last season would have been awful. The equaliser was huge, the winner was astronomical.

Mikel joked about playing without the handbrake in his prematch comments and we showed more than glimpses of that football. Want to see more of that.
We dominated these barcodes and then showed a lot of heart, spirit and fight to come back from a goal down, break Newcastle’a stubborn defense, and find a way to win.
We need to remember this game, performance and outcome when things get tough this season.
