Not a great start for the new regime. Very sloppy approach but if you’re getting rejected by Emery it’s time to properly evaluate the structures of the club in relation to your sporting project.
Appears they’ve sacked Bruce with no real plan or method in seeking his replacement.
Newcastle are starting this project wrong. You bring in important people at the decision making level first and foremost, and then you focus on long term managerial appointments.
Bring in a director, bring in some knowledgable executives and take it from there. Don’t just hire a name manager who himself didn’t want the job because he didn’t see what the clubs direction was.
He probably turned down a lot of money to stay at a club he may well be sacked from this season anyway.
I really don’t think it’ll be hard keeping Newcastle up this season.
They’ll muddle through with a couple of signings easy enough.
Tbf right now they actually haven’t done anything than sack Bruce.
Way too early to judge anything yet.
Yeah, this is basically what I was thinking, his rejection is indicative of how much of a shitshow it must currently be at Newcastle, for him to turn down a boatload of cash for what’s likely a short term job when he doesn’t exactly have loads of job security atm.
I’m not so sure. Have you seen their fixture list for the rest of the first half? This seems like a fairly plausible scenario and it would leave them on nine points halfway through the season.
@Brighton LOSS
Brentford DRAW @Arsenal LOSS
Norwich WIN
Burnley DRAW @Leicester LOSS @Liverpool LOSS
Manchester City LOSS
Manchester United LOSS
Managers turning down positions means nothing to me ever since Conte snubbed Spurs and then took the job a few months later when they were in an even worse position.
Emery should have taken the money, you keep them up happy days, you don’t, well you were losing your job in Spain anyway, probably getting a better severance package with toon.
In a game awash with money and shitty principles it’s good to see someone turn down the job because they don’t believe in the project especially from that regime.
Yeh but he’s not standing up to it for some noble cause he just doesn’t back himself. Wish he had the same self awareness when he was clamouring for the Arsenal gig.
The project as it stands is dog shit so why should he go, just for money? Funny that you’re taking shots at him for turning down a job he doesn’t believe in?
We had a better structure in place and an actual plan, too bad it turned to shit but it’s not the same at all.
What’s the difference between this regime and city’s though.
Plenty of people seem to accept that. Obviously im talking on ownership here.
City don’t seem to catch half this stuff.
City’s are no angles either but that was time ago, only natural that there will be more aversion to something that is happening right now. If this happened to them I’d say the same but it likely won’t because they are perhaps the best run club in the country.
They were virtually exposed for laundering money about 18 months ago.
The truth is really City stop rival clubs from winning trophies.
Every teams fans at the other big 5 clubs tend to adopt them as well when there club is out the reckoning.
I get it that’s tribalism, but let’s not be using moral arguments and outrage if we’re accepting one of these takeovers. All or nothing.
