Sensible decision though. They’re going nowhere under Bruce and it’s fast approaching the time when picking up points is vital to avoid being in the dog race and struggling.
They need a coach that can win a few games to take the edge off the season or they’ll end up owned by billionaires but languishing in the Championship
Don’t stop with Holding.
We’ve got plenty more where he came from. Newcastle could have a CB partnership of Holding and Mari and we could throw in Mavro as well.
If their owners have been doing their homework, they will have seen what Arteta and his PR team are building here and might take him and our best players from us.
This is the problem for clubs like us, the rich clubs like Newcastle will hoover up all the top talent and leave us scrabbling around in mid table.
Rangnick leading the project as sporting director/DOF would be the best approach. His work with RBL should be enough that he’d be the best person to lead the sporting project.
Would Rafa make sense? I realize he just signed with Everton but he plays functional stuff, I think he’s respected within than fanbase and could stabilize them a bit.
What’s funny about Murphy’s stupid opinion is that he genuinely believes it. There are people who still genuinely believe in giving jobs to managers like Bruce when it’s been proven time and time again there is no place for them in top flight football anymore.
Newcastle are in a relegation dogfight after less than 10 games you’d imagine it’s better to give the job to someone with about 30 games to go in the season and hope he can be a bit more flexible and get them playing something close to reasonable football for the rest of the year and keep them in or around mid table.
Does it really matter if Newcastle get relegated this season? I mean I’m sure they would think so but it’s not really going to change the ultimate end result of this takeover and I don’t even think it would prevent them starting to sign the players they might want to start this project with.
Well it would surely make it harder for one season at least buying the quality of player being in the lower League.
People really presuming a hell of a lot on Newcastle.
We don’t know how much there likely to invest. There’s no easy opening amongst the current top 4 as of now and the talent pool in the game is quite low as of now, especially for a team trying to force itself onto the top table.
Obviously they will improve with major money. Premature though the levels of success some are predicting for me.
