Myles is going to get a lot of game time with the injuries to Calafiori and Hincapie.
I am convinced his drop in performance is connected to a lack of minutes and rhythm. And also his age. Inconsistency is absolutely normal for a young player, especially in a high pressure position like LB for Arsenal.
Last season he was physically dominating in the Premier League, bursting through the lines, dodging out of the press etc. The raw ingredients are astonishingly good, especially his calmness and awareness. Those last two things are missing because his confidence is pretty low currently.
However, heās got a big chance to establish himself once more as our first choice LB and get back in the England frame. I back him to bounce back strongly. Top player in the making, just a very normal bump in the road for a 19 year old.
On MLS, we do know the plan was to start him in midfield against Wigan. So clearly itās something the club still considers.
Weāre also moving away from inverted fullbacks, and whenever we had to use it was down to necessity and lack of options.
Valdepenas seems to be someone the club is seriously looking at and heās another CB/LB hybrid.
I think from next season MLS will be considered a midfielder first and foremost and an emergency LB if needed.
Been a rough season for him in general and heās got almost no chance going to the World in the summer unless a major injury crisis occurs. Still young of course and hopefully he can come back stronger.
