We haven’t been bullied financially. It’s not like we were only prepared to go to £50m total, and then Chelsea came in with a massive offer.

Both offers are very similar, but Chelsea are offering more achievable addons, which is more acceptable to Shakthar. If we really want the player, we would just match theirs.

I never took that flirting stuff seriously anyway he’s playing for bloody Shaktar no way he was going to turn down Chelsea if we failed to agree a fee and anyone that thought so needs a reality check

I don’t blame him whatsoever, this is the PL they’re a top club and he’s going to get a huge, huge pay rise. He may have had us as his preference but a move to Chelsea is not something he can afford to turn down at all.

Tbf I feel we went as far as we could.

Surely we would’ve matched that bit and pushed just a bit further if we had enough money available, you can’t say we don’t really want him after going through all of this.

You could say we could’ve been a bit quicker with our latest bid (although Chelsea would’ve probably responded in the same way again) or we should’ve pulled out quicker when we saw we weren’t that close to getting him after the first two bids.
