Mykhailo Mudryk

Any news from the meeting?

They’re still deciding who’s going to do the coffee run to Starbucks

They’re currently making banal small talk eg “how were your holidays” and “my sister in law’s children had a tummy bug and were shitting brown water everywhere” or “the pipes froze on our road and the bastards at Ukraine Water Inc took a whole day to send an engineer to fix it”

No mention of Mudryk as of yet. Further updates to come

This sounds too specific to be made up

Have the biscuits arrived yet? I’m usually pocketing all the posh pens and note pads at this point.

Yeah, I guess this should end soon. We should know the outcome by the end of the week I reckon.

No way we would try to gamble until the end of the transfer window (the way Wenger did) if they don’t want to accept our current offer on the table (not sure what it is atm).

If they really decide to hold on to a big fee we’ll probably move on. If they accept it we should hear some positive news quickly, although it should take some additional time to finalise everything.

I don’t know. I think we get him in the end but it may drag on.

Mudryk doesn’t seem to want Chelsea and Felix going there likely only makes them a less desirable destination.

He seems like our #1 target. When we really want a player, the club has always shown a willingness to be patient (like with Odegaard).

I think Shakhtar want to sell this window, no matter their claims to the contrary. They are in serious financial trouble and have been thinking about selling this player since the summer. But they have had no real reason to climb down from their stance early in the window, its the type of thing where your true position only comes out once a deadline nears.

Crazy Todd fell for it with Felix.

Shakhtar execs must be fuming. They thought they had a bidding war in their hands.

It helps that Chelsea should no longer be interested in Mudryk.

However, Shakhtar are still going to be twunts about the price. We’ll have to go at least another 10m higher than 65m for them to really consider selling.

I don’t think this gets done. Hoping we’ve got other options we can pursue.

As much as we could do with the reinforcements sooner, I feel like if we hold firm until towards the end of the window we should be able to get him for the same or slightly more than what is currently offered. (Assuming no one else comes in for him).

The money is worth more to them than his contribution to the team, and generally his value is going to drop the closer he is to end of contract.

I would rather us wait til summer for him than pay 20-30m more than he’s worth, for the precedent it sets for other teams in future negotiations as much as anything.

There are other options around for the short term

The bad thing for us is that Shakhtar aren’t in a hurry to sell him this window. I can hardly see them being in a worse position with Mudryk in the summer compared to now (political stuff aside).

His contract runs until 2026. Although they’re not in the CL atm, they’re still in the Europa league, few decent perfomances there wont harm him… They have a good chance to get the CL next year too, much better if he stays obviously.

Looking from this perspeftive, I can understand their position, and I wouldn’t be in a hurry to sell him too. It will take some negotiation skills to convince them, more likely we will have to overpay to some extent if we want to have him this winter.
Mudryk pushing for the deal plays some part, but not too much imo.

Yeah, they’re still in a strong position tbh

They have actually handled the deal well from their perspective.

Lol, how high do people think his price will go if he stays at Shakhtar?

You think the player will be happy denying him a move for yet another window?

One injury away and Shakhtar could say bye to tens of millions. New starboy pops up, this guy becomes another Manor Solomon.

Can a club like Shakhtar risk playing around with such an asset?

The length of his contract gives them a strong position but the league in which they play and their standing in world football doesn’t.

Yeah I think for clubs like that it’s all about maximising the sale value which is now.

Summer rolls round they might get within 10-15m of the same price and have secured CL again but they’ll probably do that with or without muddy.

Who says their not selling him? They’ve negotiated a price increase so far.
Players belonging at clubs like this don’t have the power of central European players.
Not as simple as putting in transfer requests out their.
People getting wound up on pre January hype of this being a done deal and a like on an Instagram account.
Just going to have to suck it up for now and let it play out for another 10 days or so.

I personally refuse to believe Shakhtar will ever get 100m euros they’ve been publicly quoting.
It just ain’t happening. I can’t even see the fools at Man Utd and Chelsea going for that.

He stays this window, I don’t think they’ll ever get the same offers they’re getting now for him.

Player’s confidence will go down, Arsenal will very likely move on like we’ve done with other targets, more wingers will pop up, he gets lost in the shuffle playing in the Ukrainian league.

There’s too much risk involved. We’ve seen players with better platforms get lost in the shuffle after long sagas that didn’t materialize.

There’s been talk in here that this won’t happen and Shakhtar will not sell this window.
My post was in reference of that.

I think this will get done personally but as you say we’ll have to suck it up and wait a little longer.
Shakhtar will push Arsenal as much as they can until they get the best possible deal they can from us.

They’re trying to extract the most they can which is what any club would do and chances are despite us being perhaps the only horse left in the race they’ll still be able to do so

You’re literally looking at the worst, darkest, possible black case scenario.

I desperately want him here now too, but they’re in a good position. I don’t see him losing value unless an injury happens as you said.
