Perfectly placed to call out Jones here because at 38 and past his prime he gave 30 year old Jones a shot despite the obvious threat he posed, and lost to him. Jones is 37, soon to be 38, and Aspinall is 32, so the situations are very comparable in terms of age.

Feels like all this ducking is likely to be more harmful to his legacy than taking an L, if he doesn’t end up fighting him.

If he did lose to Aspinall it wouldn’t harm his legacy, he cpuld reasonably point to Aspinall being much younger and a big, fast guy. There’s no shame in that. But instead hes talking all sorts of nonsense on twitter, even mentioning Ngannou, only for Ngannou to basically tell him to fight Aspinall first lol.

Jones retires and Aspinall is upgraded to undisputed HW champ.

I feel like these last few years will really have tarnished his legacy. Despite his obvious outrageous talent and probably being the greatest combat sport athlete ever - the drugs, inactivity and such will really harm him in the short term.

Jon Jones Heavy weight legacy. One title defence against a 41 year old semi retired stipe who hadn’t fought in four years.

Aspinall was right when he said a year ago he would retire Jones without fighting him.

What a sad way to get your belt.

Well he had two total fights at HW. Whereas his LHW legacy is one of running through 3 generations of fighters, going unbeaten, youngest ever champion. That’s his actual weight class.

Maybe in the short term it’ll look bad but long-term his legacy is right up there with the best and imo he is the greatest of all time.

I think both things are true.

What a waste the last five years of his career have been and not only that it’s impacted the rest of the heavyweight division.

Hopefully he fucks off for good this time.

Well, it is true that he had 1 title defence at heavy weight but what’s the point of pointing out his ‘heavyweight legacy’ when he only fought there twice?

Dana doesn’t want to pay up.

Apparently they matched Jones demands for the Asp fight but he backed out

Pussyo

Van vs Royval, fantastic fight.
Van has a fan in me.

Pantoja is just a different level to everyone in the division. Kara-France couldn’t do anything to make it uncomfortable.

Wooooow Topuria. Frightening guy. So good.

Arman the only guy in the division I think might make it interesting.

Hahah go on paddy the fatty. He would get destroyed but the build up would be worth.

I’m probs more on the casual side but do enjoy watching the MMA when I can, but wow - has there been a greater win streak in the UFC before?

His boxing fundamentals are no joke.

In terms of quality of opponent or length of streak? In terms of the latter, the streak isn’t overly impressive.

Personally I think Ilia has hit his last 3 guys at the tail end of their careers.

He is extremely good though.

Even Tony Ferguson and Amanda Nunes have better win streaks.

But if he can defend both belts and keep this winning streak going, then he’ll be right up there.

Yeah in terms of quality of opponent (notable last 3), but fully take your point on catching them at the right times.

I wish I could spare a lot more time to catching and following these events now days!

I’d add Islam in there as well as an active fighter. Oliviera was P4P number 2 on an 11 fight win streak. Volk P4P number 1 undefeated.

Next up JDM on a 14 fight win streak.

Think Topurias thing though his just how final his fights have been.
