Mikel Merino | case closed

Very happy for Merino to go to Barca. I’m not convinced by him as an option. Feels like a stop gap to me.

I still want us to sign a top quality attacking left-sided No.8 and a top quality No.6. Merino doesn’t fulfil either of those for me.

they are poor as fuck, we sure can outbid them, if the interest is real.

Spanish players aren’t going to prioritise joining us over Barcelona. If Barcelona want them, they get them.

But maybe Basque players would rather play for a Basque manager?

I like this. We can live in hope.

Raul’s old pal has spoken!

English translations for foreign language tweets please.

Yes but are we signing Ever Banega?!

I think it essentially says that because Odegaard played with him at Real Sociedad, he will be a great signing for Arsenal.

I’m not that interested in the tweet, it’s just that we’ve established for a while now that tweets in other languages need to be translated when they’re posted, even if it’s a bit of paraphrasing.

What’s the consequence if someone posts a foreign tweet then? We have people from across the world as members on here…is it really an issue?

It’s an English language forum. It’s a perfectly reasonable thing to expect.

Sounds very authoritarian to me…

Agreed bro, it’s kinda like if a country made it illegal to not vote.

It’s not authoritarian to ask people to post tweets in a language that every user on the forum speaks.

I don’t understand a word of that tweet.

It basically says Merino will be a big loss for Sociedad, the most likely destination is Arsenal bc Arteta knows it’s a good opportunity to sign a top player for a price others can’t pay and reunite him with Odegaard.

Thank you.

As for the consequences of posting a foreign tweet I think it would have to be a sizeable fine in the first instance. It can’t be tokenistic, so probably needs to be £500+. For a second instance maybe the fine doubles and for a third offence it’s a prosecution on the basis of three strikes and you’re out.
