If Zubimendi goes to Liverpool is this transfer dead?
Not dead but it gives them more money to play with to offer a new contract to Merino. He seems set on Arsenal, Arsenal aren’t so sure which suggests Edu could be cooking something surprising.

It would but if the reports were accurate and he had concerns about leaving Spain in the first place, what can you do? I’d rather the club not waste time trying to convince players who are reluctant.

Oh that’s a very positive sign.
The last update was; Merino wants to come to Arsenal, some at the club needed convincing that this was a good move as he doesn’t fit our “Youthful Experience” MO for transfers but it was moving ahead and the only sticking point was the payment structure.
It could still go belly-up but his withdrawal from their squad is incredibly promising, especially as the internet had decided Zubimendi had already signed for Liverpool.
I wonder if Sociedad try to do what Bilbao did with Nico and try to convince Zubimendi to give them one more year and give him a raise if he stays.
Obviously we are ahead of those cunts.
If there’s anyone who is blocking any transfer it should be Merino blocking Golbat not the other way around.

Mikel Merino is NOT going to Germany because he is sure he will go to Arsenal, but Martín Zubimendi IS going because he is not sure he will go to Liverpool. From there, the #RealSociedad is waiting for the call from Arsenal to negotiate, but he has no interest in doing so with Liverpool.
