Mikel Merino (23)

Starting to grow into that ‘Xhaka role’ now. Looks to be a decent goal threat on set pieces too, whether it’s scoring or flick-ons for other players.

Very happy with him so far. Reliable player.

I think he is integrating well. Very assured when receiving the ball under pressure as well. Looking forward to finally seeing Rice, Merino, and Odegaard all play together.

He really needs to kick on now. Too many start-stops with injuries and Rice sometimes preferred over him.

Whole point about signing him is that he could hit the ground running. Got a nice schedule now till January.
Time to establish himself as a nailed on starter. We need him in top condition for January because we’ve several tricky games in that period.

Ask that cunt Big Gabi to apologise on his behalf then :gabriel:

He’s just the backup, needs to perform when we rotate him in. That was the point of buying ready made.

All I see is a bog standard bang average player here.

I think we can do much better.

Just a unfortunate fact, we were spoilt having a reformed Xhaka under Arteta in that LCM role. We lost intangibles and quality on the pitch

If I’ll be generous I think he needs time, but we don’t have time to afford.

Not really seeing the quality in him. Maybe he needs time but the whole purpose of signing a player of his age profile meant we were supposed to be getting a ready made player.

Just don’t see it tbh.

He’s a squad player and if he’s our 4th or 5th choice CM that’s fine if he needs to come in and do a job, but this ain’t a starting midfielder for Arsenal. To make a quick comparison based on what we’ve seen of him so far, Partey is 10x the player.

Very expensive and quite limited in his play.

Don’t see all these duels he’s supposed to be winning.

He was like 27m, come on

To be brutally honest, there is nothing remarkable about him, so far. Can’t remember one good thing he did today.

I think this is by and large who he is

That is a problem and also another is he has been parachuted into a team that is devoid of creativity, ideas, fast and effective transtion play, combinations

He isn’t really someone you look to for any of that and so you’re left with a stale team where he may defend well enough but he won’t do much on the ball

I don’t see how he’s a better player than Xhaka

We can’t afford to carry this guy whilst Rice is at 6, and Ødergaard is up in the night changing diapers.

I much prefer the Partey/Rice/not a dad yet dynamic.

I forgot to add ‘for what he brings’, but yeah I thought the fee was north of £32m+

27m up front, possibly a shade ober 32m with add ons.

I wasn’t gonna upset @Sol by being all BBC about it

What can we do?
White is out, Tomi is out, Calafiori is out.
Need someone as RB back up

Is it still scapegoating now @Josh ? :eyes:

Give it a rest I haven’t mentioned it in ages
