Chemistry really ain’t there with him and the team, is it?
I thought his introduction to the team would be seamless but that ain’t the case.
We gonna start scapegoating?
Same as havertz last year, needs to learn his new teammates movements.
Not allowed to say it though as he’s the new boy
I can’t blame Merino anymore tbh. Should’ve got him last season, could’ve been firing by now.
But Havertz was the midfield hire and then somehow became our ‘striker’
Spanish Elneny.
Besides box crashing and duels, he’s not offering much. He doesn’t make things happen and seems okay with sideways passing the ball onto others.
Potentially Arteta’s in-possession tactics are restricting him a little, as I do feel he’s capable of better than this.
I want to see him play with Odegaard because it’s becoming clear that playing him in a two especially without Odegaard may not be nice to see progression and creativity wise
Not sure how much personality he has on the ball
How much did cost, £30m was it? Hope he lives up the price tag but at the moment he’s not impressing
Not ‘IT’
I’m sure he would be better if he hadn’t been out injured 2 months tbf.
Just shouldn’t be starting yet, unfortunately we’ve been forced into doing so. Would’ve been nice for him to slot straight in but is what it is.
Definitely not.
We needed that midfield signing with the IT factor. Instead we got the Spanish elneny.
I mean, Martinelli not looking up and taking more touches than he should isn’t new.
But no, I don’t think Martinelli is ruining Merino’s rep.
Merino just hasn’t been performing particularly well himself.
Is this King coming in to change our lives in the 2nd half?
Looked pretty good when he came on. Would like to see more with him playing alongside Ode.
This was by far his best half for us. Better than the Liverpool game.
Did well keeping the ball in some tight spaces (must’ve been watching partey) and actually used his right foot for a change.
Downside some shit passes, particularly the easy one to white that he unnecessarily knocked out of play and the one he tried to pass through a Chelsea player 1 yard in front of him.
Made a positive difference overall I guess. Livened it up.
Had a good game but people will probably say he could have done better because he’s our new scapegoat by the looks of it
Never seen someone so obsessed with this ‘scapegoat’ thing
Just something I’ve picked up on here is all
