I is d say our defenders are much better on paper now than when Arteta took over, sadly in the season just gone that didn’t translate into conceding less goals though.
I actually have very little desire to go to any live games these days. Even travelling to Belfast for an international is a nightmare takes about 3 hours to get into the city and 2 to get out. On a normal day is 50 minutes there and back but they’ve got the stadium in position with zero accomodating infastructure.
It will be a long time before I bother my ass to go back to London. I also hate London nearly as much as Belfast.
You should just embrace your armchair DNA man, us foreign overseas fans need to stick together. We’re the future.
Amazon Amazon Amazon!!!
Cool, so now we add more context to the situations. That’s what I wanted.
How many players did Liverpool have at the time that were at the end of their cycle and how many did Arsenal have?
Do you actually watch any Arsenal games? The defence now under Arteta, is night and day compared to what it was when he took over!
There is a reasonable argument about Arteta so far… I’m not a fan but I can see people pointing to certain things and wanting to see how it goes another year+.
But Klopp comparison? Nah, not having that… Arteta isn’t in the same league… maybe more than a league in between the two.
And the squad on the top conceded less goals ![]()

End of cycle is a hard one to judge as lots will say Aubameyang for eg was done and then he goes to Barca late Jan and outscores any of our players for the season in 4 months.
I’d honestly comparing Liverpool 15/16 and Arsenal 19/20 is splitting hairs squad wise.
Nah bro they both in the EPL
Yeah I watch the games, don’t think we kept a clean sheet in the final 3 months of the season.
@ljungbergkamp i think the biggest issues with Arteta are.
His ability to change games and produce attacking football in general but especially when we go behind. How many games have we won that we have trailed in the last 2.5 years ?
Also if he doesn’t have his first choice 11 it goes to dogshit real quick, even if it’s only a couple of players missing.
You really are dump, my apologies! Again you clearly don’t watch the actual games…thank god for Wikipedia.
You say that yet Barca want a new striker in so…
My point is, Liverpool already started the rebuild in 2015, before Klopp even arrived. Their squad was fairly young at the time and I would assume their wage bill was pretty light as well with the lack of big names in the squad.
We didn’t start a rebuild till January of 2021 really when it was clear we weren’t going anywhere with our “experienced” core at the time.
We got a FA Cup out of them in 2020 and that was it. As far PL goes and weekly performing, they were all finished.
We played some salivating stuff last season at times. Look how Odegaard played under Mikel, or Saka or even to a lesser extent Martinelli/ESR.
He doesn’t have some embargo on scoring goals, simply put our striking options last season were absolute dog shit. I’d like to think you and A4tt know enough about the game to know that Laca ain’t it and Auba wasn’t performing to his potential.
Yeh you could argue that Auba wasn’t performing because of Mikel but we all know Auba was done here.
The trouble is with @BigWeng_4LYFE and @Aussiegooner is they know very little, clearly don’t watch the games, and constantly want to twist everything to suit their agenda against Arteta. BW in particular was notable by his absence last season when Arsenal were playing well and winning.
Barca have levels elite clubs do elite things. Auba probably doesn’t have the technical level they club demands to be first choice striker for a long period of time.
They doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have got more out of him in the season just gone.
If you wanna judge at Barca’s levels they’d have sacked Arteta’s arse November 2021.
The actual trouble is they’re smart lads yet prefer to be stubborn and obstinate. It’s an ego trip with them. Have to be right, even if that comes at the expense of enjoying the ups and downs.
Let’s lay it on the line then if you know so much.
Arsenal finish top 4 this season I’ll leave the forum.
We miss top 4 you leave ?
How much faith you got ?
That still doesn’t solve the rebuild problem, does it?
Auba wasn’t the way forward. That much was clear. Do you disagree with that?
We tried making it work with the core but their consistency was awful. Too many down periods and inability to step up more often than not.
FA Cup win was a false dawn until we rolled into the 2020/2021 season realizing that this wasn’t the way forward.
I have a feeling Klopp would have started the rebuild even earlier actually.
Nah he wasn’t we can agree.
Even when he was on fire at the time of the contract extension I had my doubts about the offer we gave him.
Until the transfer window is finished and I see the squad we have I’m not speculating where we will finish next season, none of us should. I have absolute faith in Arteta and Edu and I have been one of the most consistent in my support for them both on this forum.
