Could be just manager speak but Mikel when asked about how he is handling the situation with the players that came back from loan and could leave now, he said they’re Arsenal players and if any of those are interested in taking the opportunity the door is open.
Mikel highlighted the 5 sub rule in the same interview. That along with our usage of both 4-3-3(first half) and 3-5-2(second hald) in the match against Nurnberg could definitely be a factor in some of them staying.
The players that came back from loan are:
Guendouzi (SOLD)
Mavropanos (SOLD)
Saliba
Bellerin
Maitland-Niles
Nelson
Torreira
Mari
Trusty
Runarsson
Not a big fan of keeping players “just in case” but this could be a real possibility with the unique circumstances next season.
I think if any decent bids come in for anyone apart from Saliba the club will cash in but if we get low-balled in August like it usually happens with such cases, then the club may decide to stay firm on some of them.
Which players are you willing keep this season from those that returned on loan?
You say that but Hector and Ainsley looked pretty good against Nurnberg.
Can’t believe I’m praising Hector in 2022. Hopefully Phoebica doesn’t see this.
We’ll see how they fair in the next couple of friendlies as well of course…
Final blow will be for Torreira to come back and boss the midfield. Will look like a right mug.
I’m an addict dude. Haven’t seen The Arsenal since May. Had to. Thought it was gonna be a waste of time but it was nice seeing the boys to be honest. Bit pumped up for the EL and cup games actually.
Get over it! Arteta is the drive behind our current rebuild. He in transforming this team and the club and getting us back to where we need to be. We’re all going to look back on this period, and wonder why there were so many anti Arteta fans. Club and owners are 100% behind Arteta, and he is here for the season. Get behind the manager and the team!
If this is true we better see some proper results this season. Finish above tottenham and have a massive GD. If we are 5th or lower and barely scraping by again, my question is how long will these lines keep being used?
Of course Saliba is the clear winner in that poll but I honestly shouldn’t be surprised Maitland-Niles is clear second.
Glorified utility player. Want a player that can play full-back, wingback, defensive midfielder, box-to-box midfielder, attacking midfielder and winger?
Just call fofty.
He’s rebuilding the team, that takes time. Liverpool didn’t win success straight away. Arsenal have a clear strategy under Arteta and Edu and we are adding some quality players to an excellent young squad full of potential.
