Super Mik Arteta

12 months from now Arteta is gonna be experiencing a similar fate (probably not tho cuz our club doesn’t have high standards rip).

Still think Juventus did him a little dirty.

I wonder if they would have been better off letting him evolve their style rather than reverting to the paint drying sufferball Max has them playing.

I didn’t even realise they’d binned him off.

Some clubs don’t give a flying f about their legends.

Hopefully the dressing room will perform like it then.

It’s a good sign the current lot haven’t given up on him. Certainly feels like they have bought into his methods and approach.

Thought the dressing room is full of great leaders.
Usually shit players like Luiz and Xhaka and Laca but still.

They lead with greed

Remember when used to concede 30 chances against teams like Watford and Leno was in god mode?

Omg. That lineup. The Dipshit Twins in central defense. Horrible.

Edit: Wait a second. Was Saka playing at the back?

What really stands out about those teams is the complete lack of any kind of squad building vision.

-Two old, slow and unathletic CBs
-Two young FBs who were never actually trained to be FBs
-Double pivot of two guys that aren’t good against the press and aren’t very athletic
-Once elite CAM mailing it in at that point in his career flanked on one side by a completely unproven academy kid and on the other side by your best CF who is forced wide because another CF who can’t play anywhere else is one of your only other good players.

It was just a crazy mish-mash roster, not a lot of talent and zero coherency in the footballing vision.

Say what you will about Arteta, we are currently putting together a squad that is not only talented but where the pieces actually fit together and you can see a clear vision of the football we are trying to play. If Arteta fails, all we have to do is hire another manager broadly within the same modern tactical school (possession-based, strong patterns of play, trying to play high up the pitch, etc) and he should be well set up to do better.

Saka was used at LB in the early months of Arteta due to Tierney being injured.

And he was good.

This is why it bothers me when people discredit the clubs transfer policy. We’ve literally gutted a piss poor squad and replaced them with an infinitely better profile of player.

this line up was not too shabby at all.
Leno at goal was good enough.
Our defense line was ok (on paper)
Ozil was still starting games and doing ok
Auba was still scoring at that time

the weakest link would be Torreira-Xhaka-Nelson

to say upgrade (this lineup), yes, we spent a fortune to do so

Ramsdale to replace Leno (I don’t think there is much difference in quality, still)
Tomiyasu to replace AMN
White to replace Luiz
Gabriel to replace Sokratis
Partey to replace mind was never here Torreira
Ode to replace going down Ozil
recently Vieira to replace Nelson
Eddie signed a new 100k per week contract

Supposed to be better

Yeah that squad wasn’t horrendous at all. It was built poorly with a short term view in mind but there was enough talent to get top 4 or win the EL

Quality wise, yes. But the locker room was rotten which resulted in self sabotaging ourselves.
Bit like Man Utd.
