Fair enough ppl don’t rate Potter, although it’s kinda funny to take the piss out of him when he’s got a squad that’s definitely bottom 5 in the league talent wise. Anyways we looked crap because Mikel doesn’t know how to manage football and Brighton simply pressed us. We don’t know how play combination passes like Brighton do. The difference? They easily played out of our press and got us pegged back in our own half and we, on the other hand, aren’t managed well so we had no answer to play away from their press.
We looked good against Spurs because Nuno was weird and lined up against us with no midfield at all and never bother to pressure us much. He played the Nuno park the bus and hoof to Song and Kane thing. We have enough quality to beat that without even being well drilled.
And here’s the real issue. People want this but don’t factor in the fall off from game to game. Not exceptional players anyway and the depth still short.
I’d say tbf as a learning curve today those who are going too make it learn a lot today.
Sorry to tell supporters of this policy but you can’t short cut days like this on young players.
We had players out there who are press resistant though. Partey, Sambi, Ødegaard, Saka, ESR. Even White is supposed to be press resistant. We just moved like we’d eaten a Grand Slam at Denny’s right before kickoff.
I think he was getting a ton of praise. Twitter nerds wanted him to step in for Arteta. If anything I feel like he’s become overrated for me because of all the online love.
