I like Arteta as a high variance option.
We face a competitive disadvantage versus the better resourced clubs so if we ever want to compete for the truly big prizes we need to find some source of competitive advantage. Appointing a younger manager who could have some really good tactical ideas that give us an advantage over opponents and who hopefully can work well some of our younger talents to bring them up a level is the most obvious way to do that. Whether Arteta can do all that is totally uncertain but you can at least imagine it maybe being the case.
I know people like to speculate on worst case scenarios but the reality is that it will be hard for us to fall much further as a club than where we are currently. I’d still much rather Poch because I think he has similar upside but obviously much lower downside potential. But I’d gamble on Arteta over many of the other rumored names.
