Unpopular opinion: Odegaard is nowhere near his level yet
Tbf, apart from having the same initials, both being left-footed and having played for Madrid, they’re really not particularly close as footballers.
Odegaard will never reach that level because he’s not that type of footballer. He’s more of a controller than a playmaker like Ozil.

Wouldn’t say nowhere near, but he still hasn’t reached his ceiling definitely.
There still quite a big gap between the ability he has the the consistency in his performances.

Yes I would def argue that Øde is more consistent. Skill wise on a good day, definitely Özil.
Ozil and Odegaard different type of players. Ozil definitely more skillful than Ode on the ball, but I’d probably still take Odegaard even over prime Ozil in our current setup. He fits in like a glove to how Arteta wants us playing.

Özil is the superior player to watch, but I don’t have to worry about shit like effort when it comes to Odegaard. Arsenal go away to Newcastle and Odegaard is always there. He’ll set the tone with his intensity and is still able to bring the technical mastery.

Exactly this. Two very different players and two excellent players in their own right. I think Odegaard’s legacy will be greater for Arsenal, because I think he will help us win the league.
