Some of the comments are great lol

Good to see most fans can see through his lame attempt at getting back into fans good graces after realising that he burnt bridges at his last three clubs and basically had zero legacy or brand appeal anymore

I’d disagree on both the legacy and brand appeal tbh

How it ended here does nothing to take away from his own legacy as one of the very best playmakers of all time and also the engagement on the tweet shows people still rock with him regardless.

I think he’s clearly trying to stay relevant.

It’s not just here that it ended badly, he was ousted from both Fenerbahce and Basakshehir.

Guy was dropped by 5 of his last managers and aside from the odd FA Cup didn’t really achieve much after Madrid aside from the goal against Ludgoretz and being a part of the toxic shitshow under Emery and Arteta with Aubameyang.

A few years from now he’ll just be “Ozil who could have done so much more” and Twitter engagements aren’t really a great bellwether in this case as Turkish nationalist football fans are some of the most active people on the internet and will always hype him up no matter what.

Here’s a funny bit of trivia from that Reddit thread: he played one game at St. James park in 6 seasons at Arsenal (although Newcastle was relegated for one of those so doesn’t count)

It’s just a harmless post that you’re making a bit much out of lol

And does it really matter if it ended badly wherever else, he’s still one of the greatest playmakers of all time and undisputably one of the best players of his generation.

You clearly don’t like him and that’s fine

I just think it’s bullshit to post something pandering like that when he posted “trust the process” and was trolling us when we were trying to turn the sinking ship he helped cause with his toxic nonsense and not turning up for us for like 2-3 seasons and now he’s all of a sudden an proper Gooner trolling Spurs.

One of the best of all time would imply winning shit tons of trophies and accolades and having a winners mentality which I think he clearly didn’t have

Regarding trophies in his prime he’s won plenty trophies at all of the clubs he’s been at and also was pivotal in Germany winning the World Cup.

Come on now, let’s keep it real here. You’re doing too much man

With the exception of one season, these are the not the stats of a “generational, best of all time” player in his prime years, sorry.

But yeah we can leave it at that

He was an old school #10

What kind of numbers do you think he should have been putting up? And if you are just using stats to assess what he did on the pitch then perhaps you don’t understand what kind of player he was

This revisionism is laughable

He was a flawed individual sure but if you’re trying to say he wasn’t one of the greatest in his position then yeah you’re letting your clear bias attempt to form a truly crappy argument, you keep moving the goalposts and it’s lame tbh

How would you know that Cristo? @Bavin would like to know the proof behind your statement. Are you provy to Ozil’s thoughts?

That team in their prime vs. Pep’s “centurions”… who wins? :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I would pick prime Ibra over Drogba

He’s so desperate to get in our good books again.

Him, Fabregas, Robin, Alexis, Nasri and the list goes on.

Only that twat Ashley still hates us.

Probably understandably so. He doesn’t get the same adulation from our fanbase than he does with Chelsea fans.

The feelings we have for Cole are somewhat mutual.

Yeah, Cole is just very different from the rest. It’s similar to Sol really. Even when we were shit and Spurs were doing well Sol didn’t flip flop and act like a Spurs guy again.
It’s a different kind of betrayal that you can’t just walk back on it.

There’s also the sheer success he’s had with Chelsea.
We’re talking about 8 years of continuous success there.

Still hard to believe he won more league titles with us than his time at Chelsea

His CV is genuinely insane.

Like, he’s the undeniable #1 left back in the history of the PL.

He’s our greatest left back, too (and we’ve had some exceptional ones)
