History isn’t being rewritten. Nobody disputed the lack of creative talent in the squad at the time.
It’s that he couldn’t contribute in a positive way because he couldn’t. Physically shot, mentally checked out, Twitter fingers whenever his public image took a knocking and also the fact that the club needed to look long term at the expense of short term results.
Ozil was finished and wasn’t moving the needle for us at the time.

Arteta’s big mistake was never marginalizing Ozil, it was thinking that Willian could provide the creativity and class the side was clearly missing.
Banking on Willian was arguably the single biggest mistake he made in his time at Arsenal tbh.
I will come across as a hypocrite if I defended Ozil’s toxic behaviour while criticising Auba. So I am not gonna go there. He was a passive-aggressive dick, no doubt.
But at what point was Ozil shot & finished for you?
As soon as he signed the contract? When Emery arrived? or later?
I don’t believe Ozil was shot since the age of 29.
If you include Freddie, we had 3 different managers who essentially came to the same conclusion regarding Ozil. The reason that he wasn’t used when we had an absence of talent in that position is that they all came to the conclusion that indulging him wasn’t worth it in the long run, and again this was THREE different managers. We can now add a fourth given that the Fenerbache manager also isn’t having it.
At some point, if every manager you come across is treating you the same way, is it not possible that you might be the problem?

Fell out with Ancelotti too. Liam Brady wasn’t a fan either.
Özil was a great footballer, but he’s now just a prick. Although his PR team have done their best to make him seem personable (charity work etc), his action on the training ground reveal more.

Yea but you can only count 7 or 8 of them anyway cos of the away games then you have to discount the couple against the bigger teams too so in the 5/6 left he maybe grabs us another draw/win and ultimately it’s a pretty pointless needle shift.

How many points off European places were we last season ? From memory it was pretty tight, an extra 4 or 5 points in those first 14 games could have been very handy.
Yea great we could have got knocked out of the Europa by someone we’re better than there would be people saying if only we’d still has Ozil.
He was an overall negative to the team/squad and I don’t care about the rest.

We’d have seen a little better creativity on the pitch, but 2020 Ö wasn’t the visionary/one-man creation machine of 10 years ago. Having Özil would not have solved our issues on the pitch and he’d have exacerbated the issues we had off it.
Secondly if Arteta kept him in the team, they’d be no space to accommodate the Odegaard.

Also how much of Ozil being a dick is a completely Ozil thing and not something that was brought out of him by the way German NT & Arsenal management treated him?
I definitely think he is a dick with ‘offering to pay Gunnersaurus’ wages etc’ but I doubt anyone can remain pleasant when they say Ozil was dropped for not working hard and then proceed to see Xhaka lumbering around conceding goals or watching an Arsenal team play stale as fuck while Ozil warms the bench.
Arsenal created a toxic environment for Ozil who then reciprocated back.
Arsenal management should have just cancelled his contract instead of fucking around his game time, hoping he would leave.
There is a lot to be said about Ozil’s attitude but overall it is Arsenal who were assholes in this whole saga.
Neatly aligned with asking for wage cuts, sacking employees(gunnersaurus) and then proceeding to spend 45m on Partey.
