Mesut Özil

Not sure when that’s from but here is Ozil’s stats against the big 6.

Garbage. Didn’t turn up at all.

Santi has better stats and even Ramsey nearly has better numbers even though he played as box to box.

He used a 45 year old screenshot to prove a point i think

If Ozil didn’t turn up then they hardly did either especially Ramsey

Not sure those images prove what you think they do.

Anyone of have list for big chances created in the EPL from 13-14 season to 17-18 season?

Going by the top Mata is wearing that graphic is from 2016/17

@Flexo here’s what I’m talking about. This is more recent. We wish Ozil put out the same numbers as Eriksen.

It shows that he was providing an assist or a goal every 3 games in the big games. Which is absolutely not good enough for what was supposedly an elite number 10 and our record signing at the time. Like I said he don’t turn up in the big games, then you factor in his inconsistent performances, and his lazy on pitch demeanour and lack of goals and to me he’s overrated. Eriksen for Spurs was a better player than Ozil was for us.

Nonsense mate. He won an Audi Cup

Ozil has created more goalscoring chances (458) and provided more assists (49) than any other player in the Premier League since then.

That was another article I saw from when he joined up until Feb 2018 which was around the time he signed the contract I think.

The first deal he signed and transfer fee was worth every penny, if he had someone like Suarez up top instead of Giroud his assist numbers would have been unreal and we’d likely have won a couple of titles.

If we were not hell bent on trying to push Ozil out by creating a negative narrative, we would have had a lot more output from Ozil in last 2 seasons.

As soon as Emery arrived, it was obvious that Arsenal were being unprofessional and it did nothing but hurt us.

Arsenal are cunts for taking that approach. Completely deplorable behaviour by the club and I for one am glad Ozil didn’t bow down and made them pay every penny possible.

Exchange Giroud with Kane, sure Eriksen’s numbers would be cut off by at least 1/3

Eriksen is a good player and in terms of value for money > Özil. What I will say is that I think those numbers are influenced by the fact Eriksen plays significantly more minutes than Özil does. Every single season aside from his first, Eriksen played at least 35 games. The best ability is availability.

On average Özil played around 28 league games during the Wenger-era (I’m discounting everything after Wenger leaves). So the numbers (chances created, assists, goals etc) are influenced by the amount of games Eriksen’s played. This is a plus in Eriksen’s corner, but if we were to break it down into a per-game or per 90 basis, only KDB beats Özil.

As for big games, as I said, Özil’s performances in those away games weren’t good. He left our midfield exposed as he acted like a striker out of possession. From memory, I can only remember 3 g/a that Ozil contributed in big away game. (goal vs Spurs and assist vs Man City and assist vs Man Utd). Big meh.

Ozil over Eriksen and it wasn’t ever close. At their peaks - Ozil all day. That guy performed across Europe for the biggest club in the world and then moved to Arsenal and served the PL with ridiculous numbers.

Eriksen is 28 and the guy is shot to pieces you can’t compare them.

This English game you talk off it dominated by foreigners :eyes:.

Signing him did gave us the push towards that. The 79 points we hit that season was the highest since 07/08. Ozil gave this club a pretty big boost. But the business that coincided with that was Flamini, Welbeck and Petr fucking Cech in stead of proper players.

Sometimes a cv says everything you need to know. The fact that Tottenham Hotspur (lol) and Internazionale are the bigger clubs he played for says it all really.

Yeah who have adapted and play the English way. KDB is a prime example, he’s Scholes, early Gerrard evolved for the modern game.

This league is too fast paced, to physical for some players, if you want to be successful you have to adapt and part of adapting is being able to put a shift in when your team needs you to, because even the shit teams here will press and push and no team can really afford to have a player that doesn’t put in some kind of leg work.

It’s not PC but the EPL is the best league in the world, and it’s not just because of the money bro. It’s the money + the players (domestic and foreign) + the style of football. It’s physical, it’s exciting, it’s fast paced and has been ever since I can remember and that’s going back 25 years, and that aspect is down to the English way.

Playmakers like Cazorla and Mata, who aren’t even top tier in their country, came here and made it look easy. I don’t think they really adapted their style of play. Hazard was a lazy fucker. Someone like Payet comes in, who isn’t one to put in a shift either, and stands out.

Ozil doesn’t get 17 assists in a season if he’s overrated or not a top player in this League. We had so much shit around him. I already mentioned the players. In stead of signing a proper centre midfielder we gave a contract to Flamini of all people. In stead of buying proper competition for Giroud, we buy fucking Welbeck. Thát was the problem.

Yeah and we saw a decline when we had better players than Giroud. Auba should be perfect for Ozil but 2 assists in the last 40 games says it all for me.

I agree with you Giroud was garbage, and so was flamini and Coq and Welbeck. I respect all of your opinions but to me Ozil was also overrated.

I’m personally glad to see him go.

I think there is more than that. Said from the start Emery and Ozil was not going to work. What I do hold against him is that I think that he just gave up after Emery left. His political statements, faking injuries after he wasn’t played in the games against City and Brighton after the restart and not agreeing with that pay cut does give the impression that he was like ‘fuck it’.

I do agree that it’s best that he leaves. And should have left in the summer.
