Matteo Guendouzi

Still does more definsively than Xhaka tho :joy::joy:

Another thing to keep in mind, is there are probably politics involved. Xhaka may be well and truly liked by Arteta and Arsenal staff so maybe they give him preferential treatment. In most walks of life the saying, it’s no what ya know it’s who ya know, rings true. Xhaka probably will continue to be picked until Arteta’s head is on the chopping block due to poor results.

Being a captain means nothing anymore anyway, as long as you don’t fight Greek policemen or tell your own fans to fuck off there is very little you can do to fail at the position in the modern era.

The one hope I have that Arteta will get his head out of his ass in regards Guendo, is the high hopes the guy seems to have in the transfer market. If we are truly in dire straights financially no fucking way we are landing both Aouar and Partey, and realistically we aren’t gonna get either one. Meanwhile we’ve got a top prospect wasting away at the club who needs to be developed. He’ll have no choice but to bring him back when we strike out in the transfer market.

By all accounts, it’s Guendo that got into with the coaches and has refused to apologize.

You can’t build a culture and let a 21 year old kid escape the rules.

They’ll likely sell him below normal market value or demote him to the U21’s until he either shapes up or attracts a buyer.

As I’ve said before I do rate him, but it’s up to him now, either he agrees to be part of the squad, or we sell him… His choice… Would be a shame if he goes, as he is very talented, but he really needs to change his attitude.

Like seriously lol, you have to have red lines or you risk turning into Emery.

Arteta has been vindicated with his decision making by getting the results and silverware. Majority of the dressing room has brought in and people want Arteta to reintegrate guendouzi without the player conforming to his standards!? That’s nuts

You have to set the tone, set it early and be consistent. I’m prepared to lose Guen for nothing. No one is bigger than the club

Yeah, that’s true.
If Arteta can win us trophies, He can play Steward Downing in midfield for all I care.

It’s weird how some on here seem to have an explicit and accurate understanding of the internal situation at the club re: Guendouzi when the reality is none of us actually know.

Considering his history and the degree to which he’s been exiled one can read between the lines tbh.

Don’t quite need a club statement here do we.

Oh so one could make an assumption based on some loose material facts?

Seems like an accurate and reliable means of coming to a definitive decision.

Loose material facts?

Not included in match day squads, actively attempting to sell are loose facts for you?

Yeah they are really. Maybe not in football fan world.

Can you tell me the exact reason he was dropped? Can you tell me about any of the dialogue that the club or any officials have had with him and what has been said or come of it? Can you tell us exactly what Arsenal are doing with Guen and back it up with a verifiable source?

I feel like all of those are a no. So yeah, I’d say your 2 lines of material facts are probably not enough to give a clear and accurate, verifiable picture of the situation.

You’re being highly dramatic, people are giving their opinion based on the evidence at hand.

Who cares exactly what he did? What is clear is that he DID do something which has lead to him being jettisoned from the team and placed on the chopping block. He has form for it too, at his previous club he was banished from the 1st team for months.

So in all likelihood it is a behavioural issue, of course we don’t know exactly what he did but what’s clear is Arteta has taken a stand with regard to squad discipline.

If you’re contending that hey good for you, I mean let’s all just discuss facts on a forum.

I can’t give you the article in full. But the parts that are available for people who haven’t got a subscription say that people at the club weren’t happy with how he behaved after the Brighton game, he has had a conversation with Edu and Arteta, and they weren’t happy with how that conversation went, and Arteta asked him to train alone.

Or you believe Ornstein is full of shit. And nothing of this report to be true whatsoever.

Yeah, so basically you are agreeing with what I am saying lol that you and everyone else don’t know exactly what’s going on.

In a general sense, it may not matter as discussing conjecture and the like is part of being a football fan.

However, I’m also quite validly saying that we don’t know the facts so some of the arguments are not verifiably accurate. If you read some of the posts, it’s quite obvious that some are talking as though they do know exactly what the internal situation and dynamic is.

I’m actually happy to assume Guen has show a poor attitude and no desire or intention to remedy that. You’re right, what we do know suggests that.

Of course if one then goes on to say things different to this, then it gives the impression they believe they have an alternative understanding of the situation. Guen being a cunt and Arsenal behaving poorly are 2 quite distinct situations.

Here’s some examples from the last hour:

So much for the “clean slate” :arteta:

To be fair I personally don’t need to know the facts to feel like I don’t want him at our club.

That’s true. However if you were to say that Arsenal are handling it badly and Guen should be playing, then you probably would.

Sorry I didn’t mean to sound like I was isolating that comment towards you. But yeah I agree with you on that.
