Heās been our number one midfield target for a couple of seasons now so Iām happy to get this one done.
I donāt know much about the player. Highlights donāt look particularly exciting and Iāve never been too impressed when Iāve seen him but ultimately the club and the people that make transfer decisions want this guy so I believe heās going to be a serious addition to our midfield.

Iām a bit lukewarm on this one as there is a bit of a concern about his athleticism and physicality and how it translates to the PL
Sincerely hope itās a case of a player just upping their game and not missing a beat in a new setting with added room to improve.
Theyāre convinced he will be a midfield lynchpin so letās see, he does have qualities but just havenāt been convinced heās top notch. Happy for him to prove otherwise.

Not on paper weaker than Liverpool or post DeBruyne. Could ideally do with another though as three have these players have barely played cm for us.
Nwaneri has been a crap Ode alternative so far. Not saying he wont work there going forward, but atm heās a Saka alternative primarily, a very good one too, despite Arteta being an absolute penis for not using him recently.

Cons:
Big fee for no major gain in the position
Confirms we spent 100m on Rice to play 8 then 40m on Merino for no reason whatsoever
Makes me think we wonāt sign someone to support/rotate with Odegaard on the left side.
Not sure what to think til we finish the summer.
Wish we were anywhere near as quick to respond to our attacking needs
If we get Gyok and Nico soon then Iāll maybe be happy.
