Today was just the start. His interceptions and passing is top rate. He is going to be such an integral player for us this season.

He was pretty deep on several occasions, which should allow for Rice and Odegard to push up a bit. Looks very comfortable on the ball.
Think he will certainly help the team transition much quicker.
He’s signing didn’t get the fanfare it deserves since it was known for so long.

He played good with Zubi on the national team.
Arteta could not find him a permanent role on the team unfortunately.
Rice, Ode, and Zubi/Partey all has a clear role but not Merino.

His signing has gone under the radar for sure. I think if Zubi carries on as he’s started, by Xmas all the pundits will be talking about how good he is. You can see why Liverpool wanted him last season, and why Alonso was also keen to have him at Real Madrid. We have a top quality midfielder on our hands, and Arteta deserves so much credit for convincing him to sign for us. He was a joy to watch again today at the Emirates!

It feels like anyone would look quality next to him tbh. But may as well position each player according to their strengths, which unfortunately for Merino is on the bench as backup CF…
Nice to see him and Rice interchanging who went forward, who stayed back, makes our midfield less predictable. I think he will help Rice improve over the season too

I was certain he was world class before he even signed for us. When he’s in full flow he dominates the midfield. I think all of our expensive signings are going to prove to be bargains in the long-term. Even Noni.

Ngl thought it was just awful from Leeds, terrible ball out and easy interception. Still good from Zubi but I’d expect rice or merino to be capable of the same on the left.
Timber made the better pass and absolute belter of a finish from Bukayo.
Would be interesting to know who those would be. Hard to think of any others that we would have realistically gotten, particularly at that price point. Angelo Stiller maybe?
Really impressive stuff. He controls the ball with one foot, without using the other foot to stabilize himself. All in the core.

This guy is a spring of positive energy.
Everybody was talking about Eze, but this guy is even happier to play for Arsenal. Ridiculously motivated every second he’s on the pitch.

I think he had better games before but still, got twice on the score sheet. Seems to be getting a knack of it now which is handy. The more goalscorers, the better.

We had Merino, the hattrick hero from the other day and an experienced 9, Odegaard with 15 open play goals in the PL a few years ago and Nwaneri a ball kick specialist in midfield and it’s Zubi - our DM who gets a brace in the end lol.
Good account of himself so far. Will only improve as he beds in . Still very early so loads more to come. So far looking like a great pickup.
