Very pleased to hear he was brilliant
Heās intelligent, reads the game state so well, drops back when needed, strong in the tackle and an exquisite passer of the ball.
I had a perfect view from behind Zubimendi for the first goal. When I saw that Gyokeres was under his curling pass into the area, I was already celebrating.
Itās great to see that he so utterly looks the part
Players like him can make orchestrating, setting the rhythm and being the brain of the team look so simple when itās anything but.
Defensively you can also see how much he can bring too, we had clearly lost legs in the middle and whilst he is not necessarily a top athlete his brain and ability to read the game allows him to defend so deftly when he doesnāt have the ball.
Hugely encouraging performance.
Pleasantly surprised by how good he is in intercepting and tacking.
I get the feeling that whether you deploy this guy as a 6, 8 or 10, heāll deliver.
Might be too early to say this, but he seems to have the playmaking of a 10, the engine of an 8, and the defensive solidity of a 6.
Doesnāt he have the highest % of successful turnovers in the final third or something? Unless Iām confusing him with someone else.
Quite some player. Just hope he has the movement around him because he can pick passes at will.
Never really in doubt.
Partey was overrated by Arsenal fans
Imagine spending £115m on Caicedo when players like Zubimendi are roaming around Europe for half the cost.
EPL playersā¦
a lot of players in France, Spain are aot cheaper and good
Good game against a familiar team. Very good midfielder. Starts for Spain after all. All in all seems like an adequate Partey replacement. Classy player.
Does he start for Spain when Rodri is fit?
As long as he is putting in performances like yesterday for Arsenal, I donāt care if he starts for Spain or not!
Hasnāt been the case, no
Richarlison used to laugh at Gabriel for not starting for Brazil.. I donāt care, heās still one of best CBs in the world imo.
Same could be said for Zubi even if he is world class. Rodri will start in most competitive games for Spain imho, unless his level drops hard or he moves to Saudi.
Thatās been the million dollar question for de la Fuente. How is he gonna deal with Rodri coming back to full fitness. Zubimendi has done very well in his absence.
A lot will depend on whether Rodri goes back to the player he was before the injury, and if so, how soon. Took Van Dijk a season to get back to his level.
Very impressive. This is everything youād want from a player in that position. If he can maintain this level in the PL we got some player on out hands.
To me he appeared much more conservative watching him before. Besides his passing which is very positive, the way he takes the ball and always looks forward, assured in tight areas⦠I was also also surprised how willing he is to go very high up the pitch and follow up the team when we attack. Even took some weird positions on th flanks a few times and created trouble there.
And on top of everything, so alert and plays with great urgency defensively, mops everyhing up. Such a complete 6.
Lovely player if this is his true usual standard.
Expecting to hear this in the ground this season:
Zubi Zubi Zubi Zubi
Do you, do you, do you, do you
Hopefully not. Makes me wanna vomit my brains out
Heās definitely utilised as a more attacking CM in the Spanish set-up from what I remember of the Euros.
