Same, in the sense that I wouldn’t advocate selling him. But we need to bring in another major creative player. We can’t risk him being like this again next season, a similar lack of creativity will stop us winning the big honours.

And before that martinelli only had 1 good season, Odegaard had 2. Turning on him is laughable.
Let’s call it a poor season but he was unbelievable before, hopefully just needs a summer to rediscover his form.

He used to drop performances like this every so often but it was usually away from home and in high pressure games.
It’s become the norm now though.
Keeps getting bullied off the ball, can’t win a duel to save his life, whatever he’s trying creatively doesn’t come off. I’ve lost count how many times Saka got him the ball in that right half-space he likes while PSG was unsettled and despite that, they telegraphed any attempt he tried at threading a pass.
Teams have figured him completely, of course Enrique would be no different.
Icing on the cake was his fuckup in the second half when we got the ball off a dangerous PSG attack right outside the box, team is bombarding forward for the counter and my man decides to it’s time for FIFA Street and tries to go past 2 PSG players when he had other options, losing the ball and then handing massive opportunity back to PSG who thankfully blew it.
I don’t want to add fuel to the talk about him not being a good captain but this is the amateur stuff you expect from kids like Nwaneri, not our leader.

I’ve been saying that we need to seriously consider signing a No.10 in the summer…Wirtz is the answer! Go big on him and a LW and we’ll still have money for a striker. Zubimendi will provide the creativity and dictate the pace of the game from deep.
Man we need 22/23 and 23/24 Ode back next season, what a shambolic campaign for him

Even at his best, he still bottled the big games though.
You realise Zub, Wirtz, LW and a striker will be 300 + mill.
If he’s anything near the labels that were touted towards him during the last couple of seasons, he will find a way to reinvent himself next season.
Regardless of the captain stuff, he’s just been so poor this season. I’m not losing faith but sorely disappointed he hasn’t turned it around at this point.
I think Zubi, LW, Wirtz, and a striker would be circa £300m…and that’s what I think we need to be spending to upgrade our attack.

I do agree if KSE are serious about trying to get us over the line for a CL and PL next couple of years, then we’ll see us go large in the summer, just how large I don’t know though..

It was a poor performance but his set piece kicks were useless and Rice should have taken them.
Substituting Odegaard at the end of the game seemed more like Arteta showing him that this sort of performances is unacceptable, rather than Nwaneri making any difference so we might see this happening more often if he continues his poor form.

It’s a hard one to say as someone who feels Odegaard is a world class player and up until this season loved watching him play.
But his recent performances have been very poor. Brief glimpses of what he can do still but he looks tired, he’s making poor decisions, he’s not a threat in the box, he’s overcomplicating things and just looks spent. He should have been off at 55 mins given the lack of improvement after the break.
We need a new plan. Because when your go-to plan rests on Odegaard turning attacks into chances and he’s not functioning or just plain not fit, we will always have problems.
EDIT - We also need a legitimate alternative to him in the team, we’ve been ruthless in the GK department, that needs to follow for every position in the team. No-one should be above being dropped.
