Now I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic or not
Having 1-2 creative players in this squad is unacceptable.
Odegaard and Partey. (Zinchenko did this quite often too before he was Tomiyasu’d)
With no suitable replacements for either. Vieira was supposed to be that Odegaard back-up, but he turned out to be shite.
That said, we could do with a few of his worldies from outside the box every now & again.
I think my reply to @JakeyBoy solves that question
Yeah I was following the convo, I know where that claim came from and that it wasn’t your opinion
My point was just that the original post was hyperbolic, but that there is an element of truth behind it.
Isn’t @The_Invincibles the only one claiming that?
I don’t know if I am the only one championing the Zubimendi signing but I am very happy to stand by what I’ve said. I think he will be a transformational signing. Top quality player who was wanted by Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Reports were that City also were interested too. Excellent business by the club (assuming deal gets confirmed) ahead of the summer window and beating the competition to secure him for a reasonable fee too.
I must admit I thought the transfer would have had more support from others on here, but not for the first time, I am happy to put out an opinion which is different to most. I’m sure if he arrives and is abysmal I’ll be reminded of these posts and I’ll hold my hands up, but equally expect me to pipe up next season if he excels at Arsenal.
@SRCJJ and I seem to have polar opposite views on Rice and Zubimendi, which is why this forum is so great, and therefore looking forward to seeing how our midfield evolves next season.
Excellent use of hyperbolic…doesn’t get used often enough in casual conversation. Not sure if this comment was directed at me, as I was championing the signing of Zubimendi. He rejected the move to Liverpool in the summer, that was confirmed by Slot in a press conference. The reports I read online also said there has been firm interest from Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Personally, even if the rest of the links are rubbish, the fact we have convinced him to join us instead of Liverpool is still a major coup IMO.
Transformational just doesn’t jive with what his strengths are we have what he brings already
And yes some clubs tried to sign him most notably Liverpool but they were lacking a player of his type then they reaslised Gravenberch is actually good and can play that role, not buying the Bayern and Real rumours as much and even if so all these clubs have had misses in the transfer marker in recent years.
Well, you could argue it’s transformational in a negative sense because the drop-off from Partey will be felt, we just just ensured we get the best available #6 in the market.
Personally, I don’t think it will…I think we will move on very quickly.
With a other player yeah but in terms of what he offers eh no not really
Yep, that’s definitely the intention.
Yaaaa just move on from one of the best midfielders in the world.
Easy does it.
Also if we do sign Zubimendi what was the point of Rice?
His best position is at 6
The way they’re allocating funds continues to be an issue
I think it was referenced to me, which to be fair he wasn’t wrong about if he was. I like to amplify my thoughts for the theatrics of my fellow readers.
Can’t remember the last time this guy had a really good game.
Hope he pulls it together this weekend
He needs Saka.
Plays like he just done 90 mins the day before
He’s been no where near his best except for glimpses in a few games. The injury, the new baby and not having Saka in the team have all contributed to this rather indifferent season for him. It would be great if he could turn it on for the rest of the season.
I really can’t believe this keeps getting mentioned as a factor. What is it we reckon Martin is doing different to thousands of pro footballer fathers before him for this to be part of the problem?
Sorry to pick on your post Sunny, I’m not specifically asking this of you.
That damned @shamrockgooner picking on Sunny.
