Martin Ødegaard (c) (8)

That’s an interesting one.

I will give that to Odegaard.

If you look at Madrid version of Ozil then it’s close, it’s probably Ozil.

If you look at the Arsenal Ozil, he was only close around Odegaard in his first year here, soon he got heavier and slower, especially after that injury in his second season and wasn’t really that special in one on one’s later on.

Ode has a pretty special ability on the ball. Mesut was faster and naturally a better sprinter, but Ode’s agility, twits and turns along with the control in tight areas are world class.

I’d say Ode brings more in those duels and dribbles (in his last season especially, and you’d expect him to carry on with that) than what Ozil used to for most of his Arsenal days, but Ode still has a lot of work to do on his passing and playmaking.

I’d say that his biggest weakness atm - if you look at him as an elite playmaker.
His passing and desision making is still superinconsistent and raw for an attacking midfielfer of that level. At times he pulls off Bergkamp level passes, but at times he’s a Walcott and just throws the ball away to no one in good situations.

Ozil, or Cesc, or Cazorla, simply never had that during their primes, and just had a certain standard of passing and never went below that. Ode hasn’t reached that level.

I think he is an intelligent and a talented passer but just lacks the composure and coolness atm. I think him being so active in pressing and other areas of the game takes away a bit of his focus on pure passing and that makes him do those errors at times. Along with him still not having the true world class confidence yet. He only truly settled as a player not so long ago, he will get there I believe.

If he really manages to improve and polish his passing and decision making, while maintaining the current intensity and work rate and keep that going for a while… :ode2: he’s a serious Ballon d’Or contender.

because Arteta’s system does not have a #10.
Ode mainly used as an 8.

I don’t understand why under certain situations we do not play double pivot and let Ode be that #10.

He’s a 5 star man

Indubitably the superior player when compared to both Fabregas and Özil. It’s obvious why Wenger didn’t want to resign one, whilst the other retired to play Minecraft because he knew he couldn’t cut it at Arsenal.

If i had to split it I’d go 10% media 90% Ozil

Cazorla was lazier imo, and he never got called out there.

Ozil was supersoft in the challenges but he ran a lot. Especially his forward off the ball runs that mostly got unnoticed, he was superactive off the ball going forward, even though he was a 10 and didn’t really need to do so many runs on the wings, but when he saw the space he always used it.

Cazorla was just moving along the centre circle, or behind the box. As a “winger” he was the most static winger Arsenal ever saw. That’s why Ozil used to move to the wings so often in 2013/14, there was so much space there, we had no wingers. His most underrated season of the career.

I thought Ozil was a lazy bastard when he was moving here from Madrid, he already had that reputation there, but I was supersurprised with his off the ball movement in his first games already. He’s the biggest victim of his body language ever in football lol.

That’s why he’s on roids now lol. Look what are you doing to him!!

Good one.
:+1:

Btw how much will he worth in today’s market especially with lack of quality CAM

Maybe 100m

When you hear of players like Bowen being rated as being worth 100m then Odegaard is more than that.
He’s our most important player and the best captain we’ve had since Cesc.

Maybe?

I’d say 180 minimum.

Midfielders won’t command huge fees. Bellingham was 90 wasn’t he? Maddison, Havertz and Boz eye about 60m. Odegaard would cost about 100m. He’s worth much more than that to us though.

He’s a £100m player, but worth about £120m to us imho especially as our captain.

I mean… The talk about the prices is pointless, the player goes for the fee they agree, sometimes it’s too high, sometimes it’s too low, doesn’t define someones actual ability.

But in the current environment Madrid obviously got a huge bargain with Bellingham. He should definitely cost more than Rice for example, not to mention some flops and players who moved for a similar price.

The club’s status also plays a role (that’s why Bellingham went for so cheap I guess). We’re in such a good position now it’s hard to pull players away from us even if you’re Madrid or whoever. We don’t need the money, a competitively we’re in a great shape too, players aren’t desperate to look at other clubs. Yet. Obviously you expect us to win something big soon, as those players.

I don’t think anyone in the club would flinch at an offer of around 100m.
120? Personally I wouldn’t be happy to sell him at that price and go “yeey we got great money”… How do you replace him even with that sum?

He’s definitely worth more than that to us.
A ton od WEST HAM fans weren’t happy to get 100M for Rice, I can’t imagine how would any Arsenal fan be happy to get 120m for a player like Odegaard who’s skillset is much harder to replace.

Has he been selected for Norway after his injury against Brighton? I would hope he’s staying in London?

Yup.

You just know Haaland would have pulled out in this situation.

He’s looked rusty so far this season, I don’t mind him getting free match practice.

He always looks shit at the start of the season
