Tbf to Odegaard though, for a loanee that wasn’t playing much in the first half of the season he did pretty well after arriving in late January, in the PL and a troubled Arsenal no less.
For what we paid, this is very smart business and unlike what Merson says, I think he is the best fit for ESR. Different players that can have a healthy competition and even play together.
Thanks mate! I like Odegaard a lot. I’m a big believer. But he’s a pure passer of the ball. I don’t think he’ll score 10 League goals etc. I think he does bring the creativity we desperately need!
I’ve never seen Ramsdale really play. Against us he didn’t really stand out. I’m afraid we signed him for the wrong reasons. Plus Leno is gone. Whilst I think Leno is not great he’s not that shite either. I don’t believe we have improved on our goalkeeper situation with this move.
He often got in the right positions when he was here and he showed that in Sociedad as well. If he keeps that up and with regular game time, the goals will come.
I think 10 league goals is a stretch for any midfielder, there’s a reason those who do stand out so if he starts hitting 5-8 goals consistently then that should good enough.
Ngl, this applies to me as well. Following Madrid, I was also mislead on the Odegaard situation during the first half of last season.
Suffice to say, his loan here gave me a better perspective on what might have happened to him there.
The clear bias for his preseason form more or less confirmed it.
Interesting that he opted to play long term at a mid table club, wonder if he could have selected a club with a higher rank and still got staters minutes.
