This is true and they are the best run rich club and Brighton are the best run smaller club.
But when Guardiola leaves it might be different because all their success is down to him.
So any new manager coming in will be in a similar situation to when Man U replaced Ferguson.
I think the second part is more important than the first part. You don’t have to be a football person if you own a successful club. I very much doubt John Henry knows the ins and outs of a counter press but you do have to hire the right people at the right time.
Gazidis is a good example of this for me. I think overall he was a clown show at Arsenal but he learned from those mistakes and was part of the team that helped turn Milan around.
I don’t think it will be like the Ferguson situation because the world class structure is still there unless there’s a mass exodus of Txiki Begiristain and co.
No, you don’t have to be football people but failing that you have to employ the best people to handle and advise, United had Woordward at the helm and we thank them for it. It is one of the main reasons why they have been set back so far.

Didn’t he start as a commercial side guy who just kind of fell upwards into being in charge of more of the football operations? I could be mixing him up with someone else but I thought he was one of the guys who spearheaded the drive to have ManU with 100s of different commercial partners.
