In the last 3 or so years, we have shown we can and will spend significant funds. We spent 100m on Rice, we were never doing sums of that level (relative to the market) for most of the last 20 years.
Thereâs a very reasonable basis for fans to think we will spend money in the summer. It doesnât mean that our January window wasnât poor.
From what I remember, most fans didnât expect us to invest significantly in the darker times, rather they lamented the fact we didnât and came to expect that we wouldnât.
