It’s all about Arteta and how he’s assembled a squad that he’s spent £760m on though
I think their recruitment has really reggressed in recent years.
None of the recent signings impresses me. Savinho looks pretty good, especially for his age, but definitely not Mahrez level (or prime Sterling, Sane etc).
Doku is a pretty limited player for their standars. An Adama with slightly better end product. Can’t tell much about Marmoush atm… Nunes, mehh.
Even Gvardiol, their most expensive signing recently, hasn’t been that great overall.
The way they have been going in recent years with their sigings, except Haaland (maybe Gvardiol and Savinho long term) seems they are slipping away from their golden standard in those peak years.
You could maybe even argue whether all the stuff about their trial has had an impact on that. Maybe they had to give up on some primary targets even though they kept spending big.
Seems their domination is truly coming to an end.
Yup. Their recruitment has been really weak, although I do rate Gvardiol.
The other factor is that they’ve invested hugely in this amazing academy and then made pretty catastrophic decisions about which players to sell and which to keep. Selling Palmer looks like a massive mistake, especially since they’re now spunking 75m on players like Marmoush looking for somebody to play off Haaland and help replace KDB. But selling Lavia, who is super talented despite his injury issues since arriving at Chelsea, to instead keep Kalvin Phillips also looks pretty bad. If they were able to keep Lavia healthy, he would have been a great Rodri understudy and replacement this year. And selling Delap also looks pretty terrible given they have no backup to Haaland at all. Meanwhile, the academy players they’ve decided to keep just haven’t shown much. Rico Lewis looks like a squad player and nothing more. McAtee is 22 and Pep won’t play him despite not having a midfield. Oscar Bobb admittedly did look really good in pre-season but the injury has really disrupted his development and if he misses all this year he’ll be 22 next summer having essentially never played senior level football, which is not great. They’ve raised a lot of money out of that academy but the player pipeline has totally malfunctioned.
A bit like a team that made their moves with no care in order to win the CL and now that’s done what’s left is decaying
Will see how these moves turn out but IMO they needed to target a more experienced CB, the’ve gotta get rid of players like Stones he’s barely part time at this point and on monster wages too
Wonder whether they’re still going to spend in the summer
I think at this stage we’ve got their number. There’s no fear factor and if there is it’s on their end.
You can see it with Haaland. Gabi dominates him any time the two meet.
As long as we can maintain what we already have squad and performance wise, City are our bitch.
These cunts are still allowed to spend like drunken sailors because their owners have a hotline to the UK government.
It would be nice if the media called it out rather than focusing on a goal celebration or a player asking for his boot back.
It’s just luck they have spent it on mostly shite in recent years but they are set up to dominate again because of their ‘sponsorship deals’ that are allowed under the current corrupt system.
Come on, its got absolutely nothing to do with that.
Considering what we know about this club’s owners, how litigious they are and the way they’ll utilise every little bit of leverage they have, I’m afraid I’m not that naive.
Unless the UK government has gotten involved in writing the Premier League rule book there’s no basis in fact that they are involved.
City really dont need anyone’s help to cheat.
But they’ll gladly accept it, the cunts.
Once Pep is gone I hope they’re finished.
We’ll see if it helps them escape any punishment.
If what helps?
Uh oh.
Irrelevant as they’ll be knocked out in the playoff
Get them charged and in the national league
Send them the fuck to Gitmo!
Make Haaland the highest paid player in the Championship.
They’ll probably get away with a few points deduction and a fine, in a season they’re not going to win the title anyway, when it should be relegation and a several season transfer ban.
