Glad the PL’s back, going with a 1-2 win for us, a good statement win to kickstart the season.
Good to see you back mate
Jeesh
I’m so glad that hook nose isn’t playing this time. He had a knack of performing against us.
Can see this going a bit tits up on the day with dodgy calls, fine margin moments and one off things in their favour etc - but I don’t think the fallout from that will necessarily be level headed. We could very well drop points here and go on a hell of a run for the next 5/6 which I don’t think is the case for them.
This isn’t the best time to be playing a previously flat on confidence side though. They will feel rejuvenated with big signings through the door and raring to go. Whilst we also have had some serious movement ourselves it’s potentially a sticky test to start with.
Not an easy one to predict as it would also not be a major surprise if we wipe the floor with them either. We’ve definitely got more stability given it’s the same unit for the most part whereas their whole attack has been reshuffled.
Composure on the day will be crucial. The slower and more methodical the game, the more it suits us in my opinion as their pre-existing cracks will unravel in that type of game. If it’s 0-0 at half time I think we’re in reasonable shape to take the game deep and control proceedings how we like to. Don’t allow Cunha, Mbeumo, Bruno and Sesko to gain a major foothold.
I’m going 2-2 in a mixed game for us.
Raya, Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori, Zubimendi, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Gyokeres, Madueke
I like the nod for Madueke on the left.
Really like the balance of that team and Madueke offers a very different dimension on the left. It’s early service into the middle with his left peg on quicker breaks. Can see Saka getting way more time on the ball just because of Gyokeres and Madueke’s work.
I hope for Madueke but I’m fully expecting to see Martinelli. Against a wingback formation and with Calafiori often roaming, Arteta will want his work rate tracking back and experience in our system.
Either way, I’m optimistic. United are really shit in midfield, the Zubi/Rice/Ode we saw against Bilbao will run the match.. And I think the new season and new signings will create pressure on Amorim to try and come out and play against us rather than sitting back in a low block and hoping to hit us on the counter, which will play into our hands.
I think Arteta will start with Martinelli at least until the transfer window closes.
White for Timber simply because of fitness issues but that’s what I’d like us to go with.
I’d honestly not be fussed if we started Martinelli on the left and brought on the chaos raiser, Madueke, as a super sub in this game.
I think we’ll absolutely destroy them.
Man Utd and Liverpool are two clubs I’m still waiting for us to batter.
We still owe them for the 8-2s and 5-1s they’ve given to us in the banter era.
United team is so bad it just somehow ends up being a bit difficult for us at random times.
They’re honestly short about 2 new CMs, a new RWB, a new GK and a new CB and whether their new attacking signings make any sense or not is something we’ll see over the course of the season but I don’t think it’ll work.
Seems like a mish mash of attacking talent that they’re going to try and make sense of in Amorim’s flawed system.
Great time to play these cunts. Think it will click for them eventually.
I think they’ll be better than last season but that still leaves a lot of room for them to be total shit
Annoyingly this never happens. Have thought this for the last 3 seasons but we always seem to have shit games against them
some teams just get pumped up when play against us, and some teams just surrendered before games started against Pool…
Going for a close 2-1 win for us. Think it’ll be tightly fought for the most part as both teams will be up for it.
Welcome back bro!
