Saw the rumours yesterday but didn’t think it could happen but it actually looks like it could be a thing. Can he duck the ban if he plays in Brazil? Is this a thing?
If the FA ban him they’ll effectively block his registration, which ultimately rolls up to FIFA level as I understand it.
Maybe a roll of the dice from them that the ban wont be too severe or they’ll get enough from him in the short term before the ban lands for it to be worthwhile.
That’s bollocks tbh. Presumably he’d bought a new one in the mean time and it’s their own fault if they didn’t download what they needed. Probably has an encrochat or similar one now.
I’ve some sympathy for it generally speaking though and especially after watching Mersons short doc recently.
If a player bets on a game they’re involved in all bets are off in terms of punishment id say but just the act of betting itself…i think the punishments are very harsh there.
Do you not think players are privy to more insider or insider-ish info that they could use? I’m assuming that’s one of the reasons why players aren’t supposed to bet on games they aren’t involved with.
it puts the game under ill-repute… you just don’t want your competitors gambling on their own sport… and there are myriad situations where it goes from “hmmm, that seems innocuous” to “that is grey as fuck” to “ummm, unambiguously bad”…
its not easy to catch people, so when you do, you clobber them
Reality is, these rules are known, probably drilled in from an early age and in the league - there is no excuse honestly… there are an infinite number of things to gamble on besides your own sport, so i have zero sympathy tbh.
