Not so sure.
It’s sounds quite strange there is still no progress after all this time and how good he’s been this season…
Or maybe it’s just some PR BS, they want to create more attention and then make a big celebration for their fans after he signs.
Would be quite strange to gamble about losing your best player like this.
This could be a double edged sword. It was a similar situation last year with Klopp. In one hand it gave them extra motivation, but on the other it puts extra pressurre also, and it didn’t work out well in the end.
There’s maybe too much focus on Salah atm, and if they lose him even for a few games they could be in big trouble.
Salah has consistently been the best player in the PL and is earning a lot less than Rashford, so Liverpool should give him a massive signing on fee to make up for it.
ZM basically says Bruno was positioned towards the left-side of the pitch. I hope another manager takes note and overloads that area as Amorim did yesterday
I mean we’ve known for years that Trent can’t defend, he’s been caught out a few times this season already at the back. Problem is they just score another after he fucks up and he’s just so good with his passing that it makes up for his defensive flaws.
TAA is merely a symptom of the problem. I think the issue would exist if they played Bradley.
As Salah doesn’t defend, it leaves them vulnerable and Amorim exploited that by overloading that side with Bruno, Hojlund, and Dalot. Even Martinez found his way forward.
Exactly, For all the flaws, Liverpool make up for enough goals per game to even out (or better) the goals conceded.
Arne Slot under-estimated United (rightly). He wouldn’t play this way against teams who have means to exploit this weakness.
I don’t think it’s the system purely, he’s never been good defensively and Bradley did immediately look better.
I recall martinelli having Trent on toast (last season I think) and Bradley came on and shut him down. Now maybe with more games we see Bradley caught out more, but I do think Trent is a weak link at the back and it’s why he got overlooked for England too or played in midfield.
I’m not even focusing on what United did/didn’t do as I didn’t watch any of the game, just on about Trent in general defensively. United exploiting that side is smart if they did.
Of course and any team would, otherwise Madrid wouldn’t want him either.
I think it’s a great move for Madrid as they can accommodate more aggressive fullbacks, at least in the league, and it makes up for their midfield not being so creative these days.
Dani Alves had a dreadful time defensively for many years but he was so good going forward and playing small triangles that it didn’t matter. Ramos had plenty of flaws defending (and staying on the pitch) but scored so many crucial goals again it was accepted. Both improved later on.
I don’t disagree. As I said, TAA can’t defend. The fact Martinelli always cooks him says more about Trent than it does Gabi.
The way United played that side with the overloads meant it was an impossible job for TAA. And although Bradley is a better defender, that issue —because I do think it’s systemic— is extremely exploitable.
Anyway, it’s just one game, but I’m hopeful. I do love a good told you so moment
