but i gotta say though if they do not win the win the league…saying WILL is a stupid thing to say so far in advance isnt it @Aussiegooner :unai:
lol this is hilarious ![]()
But I do think it is valid to genuinely question Klopp if he fails to win the league next round. I mean, we did get second just a couple of years ago. We then beat the winners h2h twice (the winners Leicester beat both City and Pool meanwhile). I certainly remember how everyone was soo happy about our own manager as we got 2nd instead of the usual 3rd or 4th ![]()
Klopp had a 7 point lead over City after round 20 but there is still one round to go (remember City with the Agüero clutch).
What more can you do than accumulating 90+ points? This is genuinely bad luck. You can’t judge him on this.
Why? City have all the advantages and will have sequential seasons of 100 and 98. If they do that again, hard to really criticize any team for not matching them. It is insane what they’re doing.
The first thing all of you should do is stop comparing points between seasons, not only do you not play with the same players, you don’t even play against the same teams, fuck you don’t even play with the same rules.
A season is self-contained when it comes to points. He was 7 points up halfway through.
Maybe insane or a new normal? City’s financial firepower is matched maybe only by Man U in the league and they are a mess.
If Liverpool didn’t get a ridiculous fee for Coutinho to build their squad with and hit the lottery with Salah, they’d be battling for 4th too.
I’d expect City to continue to clock 95-100 point seasons and leave the pack behind. At the end of the day, the most money matters save a fluke season here or there.
Give Klopp the same kind of teams (Barcelona, Bayern), same kind of resources that Pep had, he will have a few more trophies on his resume.
This guy is breaking the points record and has his team to play beautiful, effective and winning football. He instilled the confidence and fighting spirit on his team.
Those enough to call him a winner.
We can laugh at him because he is the coach of Liverpool, but I am sure there are many big clubs in this world are looking for his service.
p.s. People said they hit the jackpot by selling Coutinho and found Salah.
Let’s be fair, Klopp and Liverpool did not give Coutinho a hard time when receiving the transfer request. They used the money wisely and put it on the area that needed to be reinforced.
Same as Salah, how many teams Salah played before and why he could flourished under Klopp but not the others? Credit to Klopp.
Even if it ends with heartache and they have no silverware, Liverpool fans will have without a doubt enjoyed their team this year more than any Arsenal fan has enjoyed theirs since 2004.
I can’t be anything other than jealous of that.
Rubbish. It’s fact that certain totals are correlated with certain League positions. Seasons like 15/16 are an exemption to the rule. 90+ points usually equals a title. That’s just fact. This season is an exemption, but Liverpool still had a historical season for which they deserve praise. If I recall correctly the difference was 4 points at best.
lots of correlation between ice cream sales and murder rates as well.
You could always get a number for what wins you a title. that has fuckall to do with what wins you the league. Or whether or not a team from one season is better than another when a billion other things also change but the points count start over. You might as well start bashing teams back in the day when you only got 2 points for a win, why stop here.
example: side refs got worse. Pool shouldn’t have that free kick that gave them 3-2. They should already be out. How can you know?
Past seasons put the achievement of Liverpool, or City for that matter, in perspective. Not everything is so black and white. I’m not really sure why you want to deny that?
It could. But the relative points within a season say much more. Much fewer things change within the duration of a season, by design of course. The point counter restarts every summer, which comes with new rules being set, transfers finishing, manager contracts being signed etc. All of footballing Europe changes. We should be mad that we’re so far behind Liverpool and City. Liverpool should be mad that they had a 7 point lead more than half way through the season etc.
We were on equal points to Leicester halfway through and lost it by 10. Would still be worse off in the second half then Liverpool will be.
It’s a joke to even start this argument.
Putting Liverpool back in the big club status in terms of squad quality is still worth a lot on its own when it comes to Klopp, Liverpool were floundering for decades and pulled themselves out of it.
So they took 10 on us, if both Pool and City win next round City took 8 on Liverpool. That’s a huge difference to you?

Maybe, but I tend to think regression to the mean will hit them at some point… certainly Pool’s total is unsustainable… teams have had massive financial advantages and not done what they are doing… and if Chelsea get an owner that cares again, we will absolutely have 3 financial superpowers and you have to figure City and Utd are about on par wrt financial muscle.
Certainly is when the margin of error is so much smaller. They lost less points in their whole season than we did in either half of 2015/16. Even if you want to look at both seasons separately we had way more room for improvement than they did.
When we smack Hazard fc in the Europa League final its safe to say that we had the better season than lelpool. No one will remember who came second in the prl 2019 in ten years time.
I’m pretty sure they will lol. Both could finish on 98 and 97 points
