Part of me thinks we’ll get him if Utd don’t blow us out the water by 10-15m.

Does Ten Haag ever play 3atb? I know a new manager has his own ideas but surprised they’d sanction 50m or so to replace either the 80m fridge or the 300k pw last summer signing. Especially when he’s tiny and the prem is ruthless.
Really wouldn’t be so keen on him here as purely a CB, full backs can get away with a lack of height.

We have Cannavaro, Baresi who played in Serie A, and Mascherano who played in the PL, but he was a midfielder here and then transitioned into a CB at Barca.
No but if you’re good enough then the height won’t work against you.
Baresi, Cannavaro, Puyol, Koeman were all under 6 foot tall and none of them ever suffered because of it.
Im not putting Martinez on that level of course as being short for a CB is a disadvantage unless you’ve got generational ability as the

I’m sure there’s a few that actually played in the prem and did alright but if this is the best of the best under 6 ft then really fucking hope United take him as a CB, not a single one in the PL 
Mascherano as emergency cb is the most recent decent player I can think of in the prem.
Some of the best defenders ever on that list but all had so many qualities that made their lack of height redundant.
Cannavaro for example was 5’9 but his aerial ability was ridiculous I used to see him outleap massive guys for fun. Plus he was obviously very athletic and a superb reader of the game.
Martinez definitely seems better suited to whatever Arteta has in store for him as a full back cause I haven’t heard a peep about him being some generational defender so he’ll probably get eaten in the PL as a pure CB.

Screams Barcelona CB really but they’d have to sell another 20% of their TV rights for the coming 100 years.
That’s the thing with Kounde. He’s short too but he has an exceptional leap that makes up for his lack of height.
I haven’t got the vibe that Lisandro is good in the air despite his height.
Perhaps the Eredivisie fans in here who watch him more often can shed some light on it.
Blink seems pretty keen on him tbf, I’m not trying to convince myself he’s shit all of a sudden because Utd might get him but it does seem like the FB/DM role could suit better in this league.
Hopefully he sees that and joins Mikel’s red n white army.
Btw, if we don’t sign him I think we’re signing 2 players in his place instead.

Though seriously half these defenders you’re all talking about are pretty much average height for a CB. There aren’t a ton of Per’s running about in the game. You can lose mobility a little at his height.

There was a picture recently where he looked the same height or even shorter than Messi.
Generally, you want your defenders to be at least 6′0" and over.
There was a whole debate about White last summer about not being good in the air. We saw how the media tried to eat him alive from the very first game. Idiots like Carragher and Neville tried to set the narrative that he’s weak and that he’ll struggle for Arsenal.
