They didnāt have the money for it and neither did the Argentine club. He would of been an Argentine midget and probably would not have made it as a pro.

Messi was such a mercurial talent, even at the age of 14 that it was obvious what would have been gained out of contracting him in.
Before Barcelona, Newell & River Plate were willing to pay for his medications but the economy collapsed in Argentina at the time. Football clubs were eyeing him as he scored 500 goals for Newellās youth team.
It isnāt a choice between Barcelona & no career. It is a choice of either Barcelona or some other club rich enough to pay for his 900 dollar per month medication.

To be fair, Barcelona werenāt handing out growth hormone injections to everyone.
They wouldnāt have paid for Messiās treatment if he was shit at football.
They did it with a view to some benefit. Not fully altruistic reasons.

Theyāve seen a player in him and did it in the hope theyād benefit in the long run. You could argue they were happy to risk his health (must be side effects risks with that sort of thing) for their own gain.
I donāt see how anyone here is remotely qualified to make this statement. We donāt know the ins and outs of those hormone treatments beyond that they happened.

Also why is Messi such a little bish, quitting his club and quitting his NT every 2-3 yeard. you have a contract, you have some absolutely insane clause that you can quit your club any year as long as you do it before June 10th? and now that it passed because of a pandemic you want to quit after that deadline anyway? and you are going to jist sit and sulk and not show up in training? at a team that won La Liga a year ago.

The emo fan is right at the beginning though, Itās about the way he is doing it, he is throwing a fit and causing a scene in public because he is all reactionary and some deadline has passed. That is a dick move towards the fans and club and whatnot, one can at least somewhat argue. Be a professional, quietly tell them Iāll leave after this season and play the season out, do your best, then move. Still canāt understand why he wants out. Why is he so heāll bent on getting out of Barca that he doesnāt mind ruining his relationship with the club and the fans that absolutely adore him. He must have some shitty advisors.
And does he really think he can force Barca to let him go for free by pulling these kinds of stunt. Didnāt expect this from him. Somehow, I thought he was more humble than that, but it looks like he thinks he is bigger than the club.
