I think Mikel said they were always confident Ashley Cole could defend 1v1 against Cristiano but against Messi - impossible.
If he’s isolated with any full back in the history I’m backing Messi.
In my lifetime I only put Maldini and Roberto Carlos ahead of Ashley Cole at left back and Messi had him on skates for 90 mins
