Leandro Trossard (19)

For what is worth, I’m also in the camp that he wasn’t aware straight away that it was given a foul.
I saw two angles where it looked like he was gonna play the ball to Martinelli who was making a great run.

Calafiori post match also suggested that Trossard didn’t hear the whistle.

My interpretation is backed by video evidence. Yours Ain’t

In defense of Tross, I want to point out the fact is, the players played this way since they were childrens.

It is all in their blood and muscle memories.

Until 3 weeks ago, some jack ass decided to hand out yellow for people having habits and routines for decades.

Tross probably made a mistake but no one is saint.
We were all taught to block the freekick or delay the restart a bit in this era. We all.

If it is so easy to change our behaviors, there will be no addicted gamblers and alcoholics.

Give Tross (and Rice) a break.

Disgracia.

I think we just have to be very careful now as we have seen how these refs are out to get us with this rule.

They will be looking out for a player kicking it away for us in these games and will pounce.

Can’t give them an opportunity

I do think Arteta needs to sit them all down this week and just implore them to assume that every referee is a stupid cunt that has it out for them. I don’t believe it’s true, more just incompetence, but we might as well proceed as if we have a target on our back. The players simply have to be smart about this moving forward.

Just watched to reply.
It was a non-stop action and if this deserves a yellow… okay, I want to see this every game.

Yeah, just watched it again, and I can only say no way the ball kicking could have been a reason for the yellow, as I thought yesterday.

He just kicked it in front of the City player in order to keep him away from getting to the ball, and it just about happened when the ref blew the whistle. No way that’s some kind of swpwrate action or a protest to the ref, as I thought at first.

And for the foul and challenge itself… It was tough, but that doesn’t even get you a (first) yellow pretty often … It’s super super soft for a second yellow.

It’s not like Trossard made a few repeated challenges like that. I think he pretty much made 2 fouls and got two cards.

I don’t think I can agree with this decision really. Bad refereeing imo.
Technically you can probably support it and justify it, but in practise you don’t send players off the pitch for what Trossard did yesterday.

Trossard gets 2 yellows for 2 really quite tame and inconsequential incidents.

How they have added up to a sending off just feels so wrong. It ruined the game. Apparently the prospect of ruining the game was the precise reason why Kovacic wasn’t sent off last season. Yet we get shafted by the letter of the bastard law. Again.

Ultimately, Trossard should have realised he can’t take any fucking chances. He’ll have known he’s given a freekick away for the shoulder barge, so he definitely should know better than to kick the ball away right after. It was a silly, silly decision and it gave the dumb cunt ref an opportunity to be a dumb cunt.

Arsenal are being refereed differently. We are being held to a different standard to everybody else. Fine. We have to tread that line now. We need to learn the fucking lesson and stop giving the refs an opportunity to shaft us.

Only going off what was said on Sky Sports during the game yesterday, but they definitively said that the second yellow was for delaying the restart. So kicking the ball away, not the initial challenge he made.

Whether it was soft or not, Trossard gave the referee something to think about less than 2 weeks since Rice got sent off for a stupid second yellow.

It was bad decision making from him.

I wouldn’t be angry or disagreeing with the red if everyone else got red cards for this.

I believe its only us that have had two game changing reds for this? When the other 19 teams do it unpunished

that’s why when you realise someone in power has an agenda against you and success is on the line…you must not do anything to give them a reason to destroy your efforts.

It’s very clear, they’re on a war path against Arsenal this season. 2 red cards in 5 games.

It has to stop, the players need to be smarter even in the heated moments of the game.

It’s such a flawed rule

Sorry Sol, it is not fine.

0.84 second.

This is going to affect us mentally more than the 130 charges on City players.

This is absolutely not fine.

Its my fckn birthday not his and you play till the whistle - if its 1 sec then the ref is a twat !?

The right call would have been a stern warning at most. I just think the pedantry of the rule without any common sense element applied affects the Premier League in a negative way and does nothing for the product. It was not a case of Trossard leaving him no option. The referees are not being helped by so many rule changes also.

I can’t defend Trossard here: he’s already on a yellow for a petulant foul and then after another foul, he kicks the ball away. Injury time as well. Brainless. Lost his spot in the team and should have a long road back.
